I am a occasional user of the highway as well as a neighbor, so while I am interested in a potentially improved commute, I do not believe the proposed solutions provide a suitable return. My primary concerns are as follows: 1. RAMPS TOO HIGH: The current IDOT plans make the statement of “staying within the ditch” which I believe is misleading. The new ramps stay within the width of the ditch, but rise above the vertical walls, severely altering the impact on our community. Both sound and air pollution as well as community cohesiveness will deteriorate. This betrays the original commitment of IDOT years back to mitigate negative impact on the Oak Park community. Currently there is a significant increase in highway traffic noise in the neighborhoods closest to the ramps at Harlem and Austin. Extending the length of the raised ramps will severely exacerbate the problem.
