TOUR DE L’AIN 2020 WILL TAKE PLACE FROM AUGUST 7 TO 9. PRESS RELEASE, 7 MAY 2020 The planet is currently going through an unprecedented health crisis. While the health of all people remains the top priority , the social and economic life of the country will gradually recover. Sport, as a factor of well-being and a creator of social bonds, must obviously play its part in this renaissance. It is for this reason that the Tour de l'Ain Organising Committee and its partners are pleased to confirm that the 32nd edition of the event will be held this summer. A crossing of the Ain in 3 stages The UCI's international calendar has recently been restructured. In order to fit perfectly within it, the next edition of the Tour de l'Ain - Solimut Mutuelle de France will be slightly moved to start on Friday 7 August and finish on Sunday 9 August. As the Tour de France is due to start on August 29th, the Tour de l'Ain will be positioned this year as a preparation event for the Grande Boucle. A final at the Grand Colombier as a prelude to the Tour de France For this reason, the course of the event has been redesigned. Thus, the route of the 3rd and last stage of the Tour de l'Ain (Saint-Vulbas - Grand Colombier) is identical to that of the 15th stage of the Tour de France (Lyon - Grand Colombier). The last 110km of the race, the most difficult, take exactly the same roads as those of the Tour. This will be an opportunity for the riders to discover, in race conditions, one of the major stages of the Tour. An adapted device for the reception of the public If the event keeps its festive and free character, with the animations and the publicity caravan, strict measures of accompaniment and reception of the public will be set up by the organization, in coordination with the public authorities and according to the directives to be applied in August. For a few years now, the Tour de l'Ain has been taking up residence at the top of the Grand Colombier. Last year it was Thibault Pinot, who won the 31st Tour de l'Ain - Solimut Mutuelle de France - solo.
