Not only did Brian offer a room in his home to me as I transitioned out-of-state to Bellingham in the early days of The Pickford Cinema, his work as a tireless board-member and eventual board-president was Sustaining Level Sponsors: marked by an always enthusiastic belief in the power of film to do good things in the world. Brian had a sweet disposition, an always enthusiastic outlook on the future of what we used to call the “Whatcom Film Association” and the zeal of a proselytizer when it came to films he loved. Brian eventually put his love of film to the test, going to film school, which took him away from Bellingham but toward a fulfilling new life.
