Kendra, KHEDA (GUJARAT) INDIA In order to soil fertility at micro-level, the surface (0-30 cm) soil samples were colleted from Degana tehsil Email: [email protected] of Nagaur district. The samples were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon, phosphorus and potash. The results revealed that soils in the area were found moderately alkaline in nature in soil reaction with pH ranging from (pH 8.04 to 9.45). All the samples tested were low in organic carbon and medium in available phosphorus and available potassium. On the basis of the analytical results and taking development indices as unit, a soil fertility map had been prepared. Introduction Study area : Degana tehsil is located at southeast part of Nagaur Soil characterization in relation to evaluation of fertility district in western Rajasthan. The studied area lies in agro status of the soils of an area is an important aspect in context climatic zone IIa. It is a semi-arid belt of Rajasthan. Degana of sustainable agriculture production. Soil is a natural medium tehsil is surrounded by Parbatsar, Makrana, Nagaur, Merta, for crop production. Plants derive their nutrients, water and Didwana and Jayal tehsils of Nagaur district and Ajmer tehsil support from soil. Suitability of soil as a medium for plant of Ajmer district. The annual rainfall of the tract varied between growth depends upon its ability to provide sufficient amount 400-500 mm and major portion of which is received during the water and nutrients in available form, which in turn is controlled monsoon season. The mean annual temperature is about by its properties. As it is known, soil losses a considerable 26.70C. amount of its nutrients, depending upon the cropping pattern, leaching, erosion, salinity or degradation etc. If intensive cropping and introduction of H.Y.V. continued over a long Resource and Research Methods period of time without replenishment of soil nutrients, its Representative and composite surface soil samples (0- fertility will be reduced which leads to reduction/decline in 30 cm depth) from 60 sites were collected from cultivated fields crop yield. Therefore, the deficiency of plant nutrient should irrigated with well water from Degana tehsil. The samples were be determined and correlated by adding fertilizers, guided on collected after harvest of Rabi season crops. The soil samples scientific basis. Soil testing of the best available tools for were processed in the laboratory and analyzed for pH, electrical evaluating soil fertility of any area which is the basis for the conductivity in 1:2 soil water suspension and supernatant, recommendations of N,P and K fertilizers to obtain optimum respectively, with the help of pH meter and conductivity metre, crop yields. Since the complete information’s about the fertility organic carbon (Walkley and Black, 1934), available status of soil of Degana tehsil are not yet available. The present phosphorus (Olsen et al., 1954) and available potassium investigation were undertaken to assess the same. (Metson, 1956). The district is bounded by the latitudes 26°02'12" to 27°37'39" and longitudes 73°05'20" to 75°24'. The NH-65 which connects district H.Q. with Jodhpur and NH-89 connecting it with Ajmer and Bikaner are passing through the district. It is also connected with Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner through broad gauge railway line. It is oval in shape. The district forms a part of great Thar desert and a large part of it is covered by wind blown sand. The district boundary is shared by seven districts of Rajasthan viz.-Jaipur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu and Sikar. It falls in Ajmer division and administratively divided into four sub divisional offices viz. Didwana, Nagaur, Merta, and Parbatsar. Nagaur, Merta, Jayal, Ladnun, Didwana, Nawa, Makrana, Degana, Parbatsar and Khimsar are the ten tehsil head quaters of the district.

A total of 32 samples of soil, 25 samples of fresh water and 27 of saline water were analysed. We identified a total of 31 species representing 12 genera of cyanobacteria on the basis of Bergey's mannual of Systematic Bacteriology, 2001. Vol.1. IInd edition and 9 species of green algae and diatoms representing 7 genera of 3 families and 3 order as per recent system of classification. Morphologiacal descriptions and habitats were described for each species identified that were represented systematically. Of these 40 species, 8 unicellular cyanobacteria and 7 unicellular green algae, 7 heterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria, 16 nonheterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria and 2 diatoms . • Degana Tungsten Project—Present Plant
Bull. Mater. Sci., Vol. 19, No. 2, April 1996, pp. 313 - 329. ~ Printed in India. Degana tungsten project--present plant practice and future scenario M R JAKHU and S RAY Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Yashad Bhavan, Udaipur 313 001, India Abstract. Experiments/testworks were carried out on Degana tungsten ore by various R & D organizations to recover the strategic mineral wolframite. Process flowsheet developed after tests on the dump ore assaying 0.151% WO3 is being tried on a very small scale till the 150 tpd pilot beneficiation plant is commissioned. Tungsten bearing granite samples were also found amenable to physical beneficiation. Hence 168 Mt granitic resources analysing 0.08% WO 3 has ushered a hope for large scale exploitation subject to detailed exploration. By-product recovery of lithium, caesium, rubidium and some other trace elements, if feasible, will be of added advantage. Keywords. Degana tungsten; present practice; future scenario. 1. Introduction Degana Tungsten Project in Nagaur District (Rajasthan) is located midway between Jaipur and Jodhpur, and about 82 km from Ajmer by road. Since discovery in 1912, it was sporadically exploited by various agencies with peak operation during the world wars. The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG), Rajasthan, started its operation after the Indo-China war in 1962. The operation continued subsequently by Rajasthan State Industrial and Mining Development Corporation (RSIMDC), Rajasthan State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (RSMDC) and Rajasthan State Tungsten Development Corporation Ltd. (RSTDC) by selective underground vein mining with concentration by manual sorting and panning. Due to low tenor and limited reserve, production from underground operation was limited and the beneficiation process was made exclusively manual.
