ACA FROM ELCOME W On behalf of Alpine Canada Alpin, I’d like to extend our thanks and support to B.C. Alpine for your continued dedication to excellence in Canadian ski racing. We are excited to kick the season off and see great results from our athletes, including many former B.C. Alpine racers, as they achieve success on the world stage. ACA is pleased to support key domestic racing initiatives this season, including Snow Stars, Canadian Championships and Whistler Cup. These quality domestic events truly lay the groundwork for our athletes who go on to have successful careers competing at a national and international level. In 2012-13, Manny narrowly missed a podium in downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway, and claimed the Canadian downhill title. Away from the ski hill Osborne-Paradis is known for his community work, which includes running an annual ski camp for kids with teammate Michael Janyk in Whistler, B.C. He's also an avid golfer. Dustin Cook – Lac-Sainte Marie, Que. (Mont Ste-Marie) Dustin is one of Canada’s top performers on the world cup circuit. At the 2015 World Championships in Vail, Dustin shocked the world, managing a near perfect run and claiming 2nd place in the super-G. Just over a month later, Dustin proved once again he’s able to compete with the best in the world, claiming 3rd in the super-G in Kvitfjell, Norway. At the World Cup Finals in Meribel, France, Dustin cemented his place on the world cup circuit by claiming gold in the super-G. After his incredible season, Dustin became the newest and final member of the Canadian Cowboys. Morgan Pridy – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) A young speed skier from Whistler, B.C., Pridy enjoyed a breakthrough 2012-13 season as he claimed six Nor-Am Cup podiums and won the super-G and super combined titles. The former B.C. Ski Team member comes from a skiing family. Marielle Thompson – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) At the age of 21, Thompson added the title of Olympic champion to an incredibly impressive resume which includes being the reigning world championship silver medalist and junior world champion. In 2012 she became the first Canadian to win an individual ski cross Crystal Globe as the overall World Cup champion, a title she successfully regained in 2014. She currently has six World Cup victories to her name and 14 podiums. The Whistler, B.C. native – nicknamed 'Big Air Mar' - is renowned for her strong starts and her calmness under pressure. A former figure skater and soccer player, Thompson likes to spend her summers taking part in outdoor sports including water-skiing and sailing. Georgia Simmerling, West Vancouver, BC., (Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club) A graduate of the women's prospect training group who was officially named to the senior team in 2013, Simmerling adapted quickly to the challenge of head-to-head racing after making the switch to ski cross in 2011. A former national team alpine racer who competed in multiple World Cups and represented Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Simmerling established herself as a medal contender in ski cross after two standout seasons on the World Cup circuit. The West Vancouver, B.C. native racked up 12 top-10 World Cup results from 2012-2014, including three podium finishes, and she finished 13th at the world championships in Norway. Brodie Seger, North Vancouver, BC., (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) Brodie just completed his first season as part of the National Development Team under Coach John Kucera. Highlights of this inaugural year included racing his first Europa Cups, several U21 podiums on the Nor-Am circuit and 3 top 10 results in the National Championships with a 2nd in SG. Brodie was also selected to participate in the World Junior Championships in Norway as a member of Team Canada. Brodie will be looking to continue his success this season on both the Nor-Am and Europa Cup circuits and returning to Socchi for the 2016 World Junior’s again. Broderick Thompson, Whistler, BC., (Whistler Mountian Ski Club) A gifted speed skier, Broderick is making a name for himself on the Alpine circuit. Originally from Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Broderick had a standout season in 2014/2015, including clinching the Nor-AM super-G overall title and earning his first ever world cup points; placing 30th in Wengen, Switzerland in the Alpine Combined. Broderick is the brother of Canadian Ski Cross star Marielle Thompson. With 6 World Cup starts to his name watch for Broderick to make great strides in this upcoming season. Ford Swette, North Vancouver (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) Ford was born and raised in North Vancouver and spent his early years racing for the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. His passion, drive and hard work have taken him to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team. He has three trips to the World Junior Championships under his belt, and several Nor-Am Cup podium finishes.
