The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek By Kim Michele Richardson Based on the real depression-era government program, the Kentucky Pack Horse Traveling Library, and the blue-skinned people of Kentucky, this novel fascinates everyone who reads it, taking us into a world close to us in time and place, yet utterly foreign and distant. Cassy Mary Carter is the book woman of the title, traveling by mule to the remote hollers of Kentucky, bringing books that will open a wider world to the isolated inhabitants. The dangers are many. Not everyone welcomes her, or her books and Cassy must overcome deep-seated prejudice and suspicion to do her job. The word -of-mouth praise this book received from readers made it a best-seller. Thanks to a generous donation, the library now owns a copy--- ready to give you a special reading experience. You will find it on the shelves beside the fireplace. Be warned. It is a difficult book to put down. LIBRARY NOTES

---We have a striking new painting by Stephanie Lyon above the library fireplace. Stephanie is a serious watercolor artist who has won numerous awards in juried exhibitions. You will see why when you visit ‘Yoga Class’. She has a unique perspective that is always visually compelling.

---For fans of Elin Hilderbrand, we are happy to announce that we now have her latest novel, ’28 Summers’, in the library. For those not familiar with her work, she is a great storyteller and this one sounds particularly interesting. Many thanks to the generous donor who gave us this book. You will find it on the shelves beside the fireplace.

---The ‘Vantage Point Authors’ section has been moved to the shelves just outside the library beside the security desk, where it will be more accessible. Please note that the books in this category must be checked out at the desk.

Sincerely, The Vantage Point Library Staff

You can join in, watch the video and stay for the discussion with the group leaders, who are all fellow residents! See the next couple dates and the topics!
