    London Borough of Enfield Air Quality Action Plan Executive Summary The London Borough of Enfield declared the whole of the borough as an AQMA in February 2001and is therefore obliged to produce an air quality action plan. This document fulfills the London Borough of Enfield’s obligation under section 84 of the Environment Act 1995, which requires local authorities declaring an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) to produce an Action Plan, setting out the measures through which the authorities will work towards to improve air quality within their areas. This action plan covers all areas where the Council has influence over air quality, and details what action, if any, the Council can take and how those actions will improve air quality within the borough of Enfield. In many areas the Council already has a range of policies, statutory enforcement work and initiatives in progress, which directly or indirectly influence air quality within the borough. These include an annual programme of roadside vehicle emissions testing, the regulation and inspection of polluting industry, safer routes to schools initiatives, and the corporate fleet purchasing policy.     TES News No 182 • Summer 2011 The newsletter of The Enfield Society Edmonton in focus The name Edmonton is of Anglo-Saxon origin, Eadhelms’ Farm, and shows that there has been a settlement in this area for hundreds of years. Its medieval parish was centred round the church of All Saints, probably the oldest building in the Borough of Enfield still in use. There are several other listed buildings in Church Street such as Lamb’s Cottage, the Charity School Hall, the former Charles Lamb Institute, and some Georgian houses, so it was designated the first Conservation area in Edmonton in 1970. There are now three others. In 1996, the Montague Cemeteries, comprising the Tottenham Park and Jewish Cemeteries, were designated because of their unique landscape qualities. The report will detail the current condition of the house, consider any necessary repairs and “analyse what the challenges and opportunities are for the house” says a Council spokesman. The house is one of the oldest examples of domestic architecture in Enfield and all that remains of the ancient village around Bury St. It is a gabled timber framed building finished with lath and plaster, and was originally moated. Study groups for the four conservation areas in the first phase of the review have been contacted (as follows) and asked to assess their conservation area against the CAMP criteria Bush Hill Park – met 9th January Meadway – met 24th January Enfield Town – met 13th February Highlands Conservation Area – meeting arranged for 6th March / 20th March. Hadley Wood Conservation Area – meeting arranged for 27th March Clay Hill / Forty Hill – awaiting confirmation of programme date Montagu Cemeteries – awaiting confirmation of programme date contacted shortly: These are Enfield Lock, Southgate Green, Trent Park, Winchmore Hill/Vicars Moor Lane, Ponders End Flour Mills. work starts on the remaining conservation areas (second phase) when all other conservation area study groups will be contacted. Monmouth Road Green (The Crescent) st October 2016 and are progressing well. The soft landscaping is now largely complete. Works on the central feature paving will be ongoing through March. The full project is expected to be complete in the spring. Other Projects project milestones are completed: Trent Park site in September 2016.
