G2 Great Voltigeur cont. Always held in high regard, the bay was campaigned on the Rowley Mile for his first two starts this term and followed a third in the G3 Craven S. over a mile Apr. 17 with a fourth in the Listed Newmarket S. when stepped up to 10 furlongs May 3. Not entirely convinced that the undulations of the local track suited his stable star, Luca Cumani sent him to Royal Ascot to contest the G3 Tercentenary S. and he put up an improved effort, making up ground from rear to be third behind the exciting Stoute project Cannock Chase (). Trying an 11th furlong in Hamilton=s Listed Glasgow S. last time July 18, Postponed showed that trip held no fears with an easy win and he followed that with a tour de force on the Knavesmire to spreadeagle a seemingly competitive line-up in the absence of the Derby runner-up. Always traveling easily behind the leading trio, he moved through rivals without being extended to take over from the long-time leader Odeon with a quarter-mile remaining. Despite veering right in the closing stages, he was always comfortably on top of his only serious threat in Snow Sky and had a comfortable buffer over that rival at the line in what amounted to a true test. AHe looked very good today and confirmed he is a Group 1 horse in the making,@ his trainer said. AWe probably wasted a bit of time running him over a mile and 10 furlongs for his first couple of races this season, and I probably don=t want to stretch him over a mile and six [furlongs] in the Leger. He doesn=t need to go further, but it will be the owner=s decision as to whether he goes to Doncaster. My inclination is to keep him at a mile and a half, where he could be very good. He has always been stronger physically than mentally, so we didn=t want to overstep the mark. He will take everything you can throw at him physically, but mentally we have had our doubts so that=s why we have taken it step-by-step with him. I want him to become a proper Group 1 horse next year at 12 furlongs. He likes a flat course and fast ground and going down into the >dip= was his undoing at Newmarket earlier on this season, as he can=t get his balance.@ Postponed is a grandson of the 1996 G1 Moyglare Stud S. victress Bianca Nera (GB) (Salse), from the family of MG1SW and 2007 G1 1000 Guineas third (GB) ().

Ï Ò RCI TIGHTENS RESTRICTIONS ON NSAIDS The Association of Racing Commissioners International (RCI) voted to increase penalties for the detection of multiple Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS). RCI adopted three classes of ANSAID stacking@ to differentiate violations caused by trace amounts in a postrace sample from higher concentrations that exceed regulatory thresholds. Penalties for more serious violations will include a mandatory fine, suspension and loss of purse. RCI policies will continue to ban administration of NSAIDS on raceday. ARCI and policies in most racing jurisdictions require that all NSAIDs be discontinued at least 48-hours prior to raceday for all horses. That policy was adopted to ensure that the medications will not interfere with pre-race veterinary examinations,@ RCI President Ed Martin said. AA very small number of licensees have been known to try to circumvent that policy by administering small amounts of multiple NSAIDs to gain the overall effect of a larger dose of a single medication. These increased penalties are NYRA/Coglianese targeted to those who would deliberately try to circumvent the restrictions.@ Did You Know?...
