Institute of Regional Innovation (IRI) HIROSAKI University 国立大学法人弘前大学 Greetings Institute of Regional Innovation (IRI) was launched on April 1, 2018 by merging two former institutes of North Japan Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (NJRISE) and Institute for Food Sciences (IFS) in Hirosaki University. In March 2009, North Japan Research Centre for Sustainable Energy was launched at Aomori City, and in October 2010, it was promoted to an institute, that is NJRISE. Thereafter, IFS was launched at Aomori City in April, 2013. One is for Sustainable Energy and one is for Food Science. Both aimed to contribute to the regional promotion and development.
