MacGinitie in the vicinity of Point Barrow, Alaska. His work on the invertebrates of the region (see G. E. MacGinitie, 1955j was spon- sored by contracts (N6-0NR 243-16) between the OfRce of Naval Research and the California Institute of Technology (1948) and The Johns Hopkins L^niversity (1949-1950). The writer, who served as research associate under this project, spent the. periods from July 10 to Oct. 10, 1948, and from June 1949 to August 1950 at the Arctic Research Laboratory, which is located at Point Barrow base at ap- proximately long. 156°41' W. and lat. 71°20' N. As the northernmost point in Alaska, and representing as it does a point about midway between the waters of northwest Greenland and the Kara Sea, where collections of polar fauna have been made. Point Barrow should be of particular interest to students of Arctic forms. Living Seashells of the Tropical Indo-Pacific Photographic guide with 1500+ species covered Andrey Ryanskiy INTRODUCTION, COPYRIGHT, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS INTRODUCTION Seashell or sea shells are the hard exoskeleton of mollusks such as snails, clams, chitons. For most people, acquaintance with mollusks began with empty shells. These shells often delight the eye with a variety of shapes and colors. Conchology studies the mollusk shells and this science dates back to the 17th century. However, modern science - malacology is the study of mollusks as whole organisms. Today more and more people are interacting with ocean - divers, snorkelers, beach goers - all of them often find in the seas not empty shells, but live mollusks - living shells, whose appearance is significantly different from museum specimens. This book serves as a tool for identifying such animals. The book covers the region from the Red Sea to Hawaii, Marshall Islands and Guam. Inside the book: • Photographs of 1500+ species, including one hundred cowries (Cypraeidae) and more than one hundred twenty allied cowries (Ovulidae) of the region; • Live photo of hundreds of species have never before appeared in field guides or popular books; • Convenient pictorial guide at the beginning and index at the end of the book ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The significant part of photographs in this book were made by Jeanette Johnson and Scott Johnson during the decades of diving and exploring the beautiful reefs of Indo-Pacific from Indonesia and Philippines to Hawaii and Solomons. Cribrarula gravida sp. nov., can be easily separated from its congeners by its large, inflated shell, with rostrate extremities, large elliptical off-white dorsal spots against a light brown dorsal coat, and columellar teeth thicker than in shells of most species of Cribrarula. This is the twelfth known species in Cribrarula, and the third from Australian waters. Key words: Cypraeidae, Cribrarula gravida sp. nov., new species description, C. cribraria com- plex, Australia, radula, odontophore Introduction Species in the genus Cribrarula Strand, 1929 are known as the Cribrarula cribraria Lin- naeus, 1758 species complex (Gastropoda: Cypraeidae), and have shells with characteris- tic white dorsal spots on a brown background and orange-red mantles. In the past ten years six new taxa have been proposed in Cribrarula: gaspardi Biraghi and Nicolay, 1993 and oceanica Raybaudi, 1993, apparently two names for the same new subspecies of C. cri- braria from the Marshall Is. E-mail: [email protected] Resumen.—Consideraciones taxonómicas sobre la familia Cypraeidae Rafinesque, 1815 (Mollusca: Caenogastropoda), con una nueva propuesta de clasificación supragenérica. En el presente artículo se presentan los nuevos datos relativos a la taxonomía molecular de la familia Cypraeidae descritos en la bibliografía y basados en la secuenciación de dos genes mitocondriales. Se propone en base a ellos una nueva clasificación en 11 subfamilias, incluyendo como novedad Pustulariinae, Pseudozonariinae y Bistolidinae. Se revisa asimismo la filogenia del género Cribrarula, con la propuesta de un nuevo árbol filogenètico en todo el Indopacífico y de una nueva clasificación de los taxones que incluye. Nr. 64:149-181 Molluscs of Albania 2014: List of species and biogeographical data Dhimitër Dhora University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Department of Biology - Chemistry ABSTRACT 782 mollusc species found inside the terrestrial and water territor of Albania, of whiches 421 are marine, 103 freshwater and 258 terrestrial species, are presented. List of species is adjourned with data from uptodays publications. 181 species are found for the first time for Albania by Dh. Dhora, while 99 of 278 species, forecated as possible for Albania by Dh. Dhora, are till today found by different authors. 39 endemic and 83 subendemic non-marine species are marked in list. Also are marked 52 alien species of Europe found in Albania, from whiches 5 are alien invasive marine species. Molusqet e Shqipërisë 2014: Lista e specieve dhe të dhëna biogjeografike PËRMBLEDHJE Në këtë artikull paraqiten 782 specie molusqesh të gjetura brenda territorit tokësor dhe ujor të Shqipërisë, prej të cilëve 421 janë specie detare, 103 të ujërave të ëmbël dhe 258 të tokës. Lista e specieve është azhurnuar me të dhëna nga publikimet e derisotme. 181 specie janë gjetur për herë të parë për Shqipërinë nga Dh. Dhora, ndërsa 99 prej 278 specieve, të parashikuara si të mundshme për Shqipërinë nga Dh. Dhora, janë gjetur deri sot nga autorë të ndryshëm. Në listë janë shënuar 39 specie endemike dhe 83 specie subendemike të ujërave të ëmbëla dhe të tokës. Janë shënuar gjithashtu 52 specie aliene të Evropës të gjetura në Shqipëri, prej të cilëve 5 janë specie detare aliene invazive.
