A Vision for Bennerley Viaduct Friends of Bennerley Viaduct 2019 Type to enter text Our vision is to create an inspirational green space, with Bennerley Viaduct as its centrepiece where the rich industrial, natural and literary heritage of the Erewash Valley can be enjoyed, understood and celebrated by everyone. A VISION FOR BENNERLEY VIADUCT - 2019 !1 Introduction Bennerley Viaduct is a grade 2* listed wrought iron railway viaduct built in 1877 and last used for rail traffic in 1968. It is about ¼ of a mile long (442 metres) and just over 60 feet high (18.5 metres), straddling the River Erewash between Awsworth in Nottinghamshire and Ilkeston in Derbyshire. A major project is underway to make it available for cycle and foot traffic, and to facilitate the appreciation of this historic structure'.
