Medienmitteilung Wild Cards für Marco Chiudinelli und Antoine Bellier Drei Schweizer Spieler stehen im Hauptfeld der J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad, die heute Samstag mit der Qualifikation beginnen. Henri Laaksonen (ATP 100), der neu in den Top -100 der ATP -World -Tour -Weltrangliste figuriert und in Bastad bis in den Viertelfinal vorstiess, steht automatisch im Hauptfeld, während Marc o Chiudinelli (ATP 150) und Antoine Bellier (ATP 630) eine Wild Card erhalten. Gstaad, 22 . Juli 2017 – Angeführt wird das Gstaader Feld von David Goffin (BEL, ATP 14) und Roberto Bautista-Agut (ESP, ATP 19). Liebe Leserin, lieber Leser Abschied ist ein bisschen wie sterben. So kitschig dieser Satz ist, so realitätsnah ist er doch auch. So war es auch im letzten Oktoberdrittel, als innert weniger Tage Marco Chiudinelli und Martina Hingis ihren Rücktritt bekannt gaben. Viele waren traurig, auch Roger Federer, hörte doch sein Jugendfreund und Partner unzähliger Schlachten auf den Trainings- und Turniercourts, am Gameboy und auf Fussballplätzen auf sowie die zehn Monate ältere Ostschweizerin, die ihn, den «Luftibus», wie er selber in diesem Maga- zin sagt, animierte, professioneller zu werden. Und auch ich verdrückte die eine oder andere Träne, als ich beim sportlichen Farewell der beiden zwischen Allschwil, Basler St. Jakobshalle und Singapur einige Tennishallen und Flugmeilen sammelte. Chiudinelli wird mir in Erinnerung bleiben als «Schweizer Nummer 1 der Normalsterb- lichen», als Stehaufmann, der immer gewinnen wollte, auch wenn die Ausgangslage noch so stark gegen ihn sprach und als eloquenter Gesprächspartner, aber auch als einer, der es schaffte, an einer Kinderpressekonferenz die Frage eines Sechsjährigen so herun- ter zu brechen, dass der Dreikäsehoch die Antwort hundertprozentig verstand. Und Martina Hingis hat mich begleitet, seit ich Tennis denke. Ich war bei ihrem ersten Profiturnier in Langenthal im Oktober 1993 dabei, als Fan, ebenfalls ein Jahr später bei ihrem WTA-Debüt in der Saalsporthalle.
