The Site consists of approximately 120.04 acres located in Sections 23 and 24, Township 19 South, Range 23 East, in the City of Wildwood, Florida (Figure 1.0-1). The Site is located south of State Road (SR) 44 and east County Road (CR) 468. An aerial photograph depicting the Site boundary has been included as Figure 1.0-2. There are 1.33 acres of wetland/surface water impacts associated with this Project. A total of 0.23 acres of impacts are to systems that are less than 0.5 acre and will not require mitigation per Section 10.2.2.1 of the Applicant’s Handbook Volume I (9); in addition, 0.51 acre of impacts are to surface waters (ditches) that will not require mitigation. The remaining 0.59 acre of wetland impacts will be offset as detailed in Section 5.0 (Mitigation). An individual Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) is being sought through the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) in order to carry out the proposed Project. Breedlove, Dennis & Associates, Inc. (BDA) scientists evaluated environmental conditions on the Site including land use, vegetative communities, soils, hydrologic conditions, and wildlife utilization including species of wildlife and plants protected under provisions of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) (2) and/or Florida rules (6) (3) (Listed Species). Prior to the field assessment scientists compiled documentation of existing conditions utilizing databases on land use, hydrology, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) soils map, U.S. Geological Survey topographic map, aerial photography, and Listed Species reported to occur in Sumter County. Design and engineering information for the Project has been prepared and submitted by Kimley-Horn (KH) under separate cover.
