Online application of building, occupancy permits underway AGUIO CITY – The City Buildings and Architec- Bture Office (CBAO) is now pilot testing the online application of business and occupancy permits to speed up the issuance of the said permits to building owners. City Building Official Engr. Nazita F. Bañez said that applications forms for building and occupancy permits are now downloadable in the website of the city government and the electronic processing of building and occupancy permits is on an experimental basis to address the possible gaps that may arise. The pilot testing of the electronic application of building and occupancy permits by the CBAO is in compliance to Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2018-01 of the Department of Interior and Local Gov- ernment (DILG), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) and the Depart- ment of Trade and Industry (DTI) to streamline the process in securing building permits and certificates of occupancy.     I. GENERAL INFORMATION A. PHYSICAL AND GEOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS 1. Location and Territorial Jurisdiction Benguet is one of the six provinces comprising the Cordillera Administrative Region or CAR. It was by the Republic Act No. 4695 enacted on June 18, 1966 which divided the former Mountain Provinces of Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao and Kalinga-Apayao. At 5,000 feet above sea level, Benguet, the gateway to the highland provinces of CAR lies in the southern end of the Cordillera Mountain Range, 256 kms north of Manila and is bounded on the North by Mt. Province, on the East by Ifugao and Nueva Viscaya, on the South by Pangasinan, and on the west by La Union and Ilocos Sur and it is accessible by land and air transport. Rugged and sloping terrain and deep valleys characterize the province. Amidst these mountain peaks is a wide plateau wherein the capital town, La Trinidad, is located. Measles cases in Cordillera up by 904 percent AGUIO CITY – Health authorities reported that Bmeasles cases in the Cordillera drastically increased by a whopping 904 percent for the first seven weeks of the year compared to the number of reported and confirmed measles cases during the same period last year. Based on the data obtained from the Cordillera office of the Department of Health (DOH-CAR), there were 211 measles cases regionwide for the first 7 weeks of this year compared to the 21 measles cases for the same period last year. Baguio City recorded the highest number of measles cases with 119 followed by Benguet with 60 cases, Abra – 12 cases, Apayao – 8 cases, Ifugao and Mountain Province with 5 cases each and Kalinga with 2 cases. Last year, Apayao and Ifugao recorded the highest number of measles cases with 5 cases each followed by Baguio City with 4 cases, Benguet – 3 and Abra and Kalinga with 1 case each.
