Bronnen: http://www.charlottehansson.nl/vrouwelijke%20componisten_middeleeuwen%20tot%20begin%201 8de%20eeuw.htm Vrouwelijke Componisten Openbare bibliotheek Kortrijk maart 2017 p.2 Middeleeuwen 1. • Chi è costei Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • Io mi distruggo Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • Lasciatemi qui solo (2 uitvoeringen ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • Maria, dolce Maria Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • O che nuovo stupor Magazijn cd 9079 • Per la più vaga e bella ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD Vrouwelijke Componisten Openbare bibliotheek Kortrijk maart 2017 p.7 9. Ze was ook organiste. • Ave verum corpus ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • Canzon a 4 (di Benedetto Rè) Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • Duo Seraphim Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • Ego flos campi ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • Haec dies ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • Impleos nostrum ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • O dulcis amor Jesu ONDERWERP Barok 3 CD • O quam suavis Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD • O salutaris hostia Recital VOCAAL Kiehr 3 CD Vrouwelijke Componisten Openbare bibliotheek Kortrijk maart 2017 p.8 10. Cellular Songs pairs voice with movement, instrumentation, and a site-specific video installation to explore the interconnected, ineffable relationship between human beings and the natural world. Following Monk’s celebrated On Behalf of Nature (2014 Next Wave), Cellular Songs contemplates the fundamental unit of life and its relation to the universe. Drawing inspiration from biological processes— layering, replication, division, and mutation—Monk looks to underlying systems in nature that can serve as a prototype for human behavior in our tumultuous world.

Salame On Behalf of Nature As I began working on On Behalf of Nature, I asked myself the question: “how would one create an ecological art work that didn’t make more waste in the world?” Live performances leave no traces except, hopefully, in the minds of audience members. This ephemeral aspect is both poignant and exhilarating. Sometimes though, the desire for novelty and surface excitement leads to buying a lot of new things, spending a great deal of money for an experience that lasts only a few hours.

  • There Are Three Composers That I Have at One Time Or Another Tried to Play
Love Will Come – new long web notes: There are three composers that I have at one time or another tried to play all of their songs: New Orleans R&B pianist Professor Longhair, The Doors, and Vince Guaraldi...Vince Guaraldi and his music are so much a part of the deep heart and soul of San Francisco, and of the experience of childhood, and beyond.” — George Winston In 1996, George released his first album of Guaraldi compositions, entitled LINUS AND LUCY - THE MUSIC OF VINCE GUARALDI. It nicely mixed well known-standards like the title track and Cast Your Fate to the Wind, with less well-known material, including some music cues that had only been heard in the soundtracks. George’s second album of Guaraldi music delves even deeper into the repertoire, uncovering some hidden gems. Like many musicians of his generation, George Winston first heard the music of San Francisco based jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi on his 1962 hit Cast Your Fate to the Wind, and on the 1965 televised Peanuts® animation special A Charlie Brown Christmas. First aired on the CBS network in 1965, the television special was created by the Peanuts® comic strip creator Charles Schulz (1922-2000), writer/producer Lee Mendelson (1933-2019), and former Warner Brothers animator Bill Melendez (1916-2008). Vince Guaraldi was hired to compose the jazz soundtrack, a bold step for network television at that time. Vince completed the diamond that was the Dream Team. At first, some executives at CBS weren’t fully on board about using jazz for the music soundtrack.

Marking one of the rare times others have recorded the celebrated composer’s work, Piano Songs underscores the music’s vibrant and independent life. Ten years ago, WNYC radio host John Schaeffer suggested that Monk seek artists not usually associated with her music to perform as part of her 40th anniversary concert at Zankell Hall. Ursula Oppens, perhaps. Monk and Oppens were instantly smitten with each other’s talents. It was also at Zankell that Oppens first teamed up with Brubaker -- a dream team to-be. Monk discovered her fascination with two-piano musical composition when she created “Ellis Island,” first playing one part, recording it, then overdubbing the other. Questions rapidly arose: What are the relationships and possibilities between the two pianos? How do you create dialogues between the instruments? What about interlocking phrases? “In some pieces, I emphasized the individuality of each piano, writing for one player as the ‘singer,’ the other as the ‘accompaniment;’” Monk wrote in the CD’s liner notes, “in other pieces I wanted the two pianos to make one large sound.” Oppens and Brubaker’s natural affinity for both each other’s musicianship and Monk’s music made them a natural choice.

  • November 2016 List
November 2016 Catalogue Prices valid until Friday 16 December 2016 unless stated otherwise 0115 982 7500 Cover photo taken from BIS BIS2094 ‘Mozart: [email protected] Piano Concertos 1-4 (Ronald Brautigam)’. 1 Welcome! Dear Customer, Murray Perahia’s eagerly awaited debut on Deutsche Grammophon is released this month: a welcome addition to his Bach discography, this time in the form of the French Suites. It’s hard to believe it is now seven years since his last Bach recording for Sony and nearly twenty years since he gave us the English Suites. We have waxed lyrical about Perahia here in the past, so won’t bore you too much this time, but urge you not to miss this new issue! (You also may be interested to know that Sony’s superb luxury 40 anniversary boxset of his recordings is still available at £129.95 (67CD + 5DVD) and would make a wonderful gift for any piano lover). Two top-flight mezzos also have new recitals for us - Elina Garanca in big diva bel canto repertoire on a disc entitled ‘Revive’ (DG, p.3) and Joyce DiDonato in a slightly more personal project labelled ‘War and Peace’ (Erato, p.4). Featuring baroque arias by Handel, Purcell and others, DiDonato has big ambitions for her disc. Planned since the Paris terrorist attacks in 2015, her aim is ‘to steer conversation and discourse… to help all of us find peace in our lives in a dynamic way…’. Bold sentiments indeed, but perhaps using her status and profile to help raise awareness and encourage dialogue is something to be applauded and not dismissed too quickly.
