Linda Weekley spent almost thirty years in public education. After retiring six years ago to spend more time with family and volunteer in the community, she decided to pursue her doctorate in adult education. While in public education she spent 13 years in the classroom working with students who were identified with special learning needs. The last 17 years of her career were spent as a principal in schools which served students who were unable to function in a general education setting. Most of these students served time in the juvenile justice system, with little hope of rehabilitation. By working closely with her staff and modeling alternative teaching and behavioral strategies, Linda was able to witness success for many of the students. Today, Linda volunteers as the director of the adult education depart- ment at her church, writing curriculum and working with volunteers to assist them in presenting courses that will encourage positive change in the lives of the students.
