VIDYASAGAR UNIVERSITY MIDNAPORE 721 102 The resolutions of an Emergency Meeting of the Seventh Executive Council of Vidyasagar University dated 04.12.2014. Agenda (a) To finalize the matter regarding nominations of two University Nominees in each of the Governing Body of the Undergraduate Colleges, affiliated to Vidyasagar University, for re-constitution of the Governing Body of the Colleges. Resolutions After thorough discussion on the matter relating to nomination of University nominees to the Goveming Body of the Undergraduate Colleges affiliated to Vidyasagar University, it was resolved that two members in each of the Goveming Body of the colleges be nominated as University Nominees for re­ constitution of the new Goveming Body of the following colleges, specified against each of college, in accordance with the clause (j) of provision 105 of the Vidyasagar University First Statutes, 1983 (amended up;ot 1997) Sl. Agenda (b) To note and discuss the Notification bearing No. 1094(18)-Edn(U)/1U(NB)-23/14 dated 14.11.2014 issued by the Joint Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Higher Education Department, University Branch pertaining to conducting the Elections to the Students' Union in State-aided Higher Education Institutions in the State. Resolutions The Executive Council of Vidyasagar University noted the Notification bearing No. 1094(18)-Edn(U)!1U(NB)- 23/14 dated 14.11.2014 issued by the Joint Secretary to the Govemment of West Bengal, Higher Education Department, University Branch pertaining to conducting the Elections to the Students' Union in State-aided Higher Education Institutions in the State. After thorough discussion on the letter received from the Joint Secretary to the Govemment of West Bengal, Higher Education Department, University Branch pertaining to conducting the Elections to the Students' Union in State-aided Higher Education Institutions in the State, it was resolved that a Central Election Committee consisting of all members as was constituted earlier for the Students' Union Election at Vidyasagar University and its affiliated colleges 2013-2014 be constituted at Vidyasagar University for the Students' Union Election 2014-2015 of Vidyasagar University and its affiliated colleges. It was also resolved that the modus operandi for the said election be remain same as was framed for the said election 2013-2014. Agenda (c) To consider the Holiday List - 2015 of Vidyasagar University prepared by the office of the Registrar in . accordance with the holiday list of the Government of West Bengal. Resolutions The Executive Council of Vidyasagar University noted the Holiday List - 2015 of Vidyasagar University prepared and submitted by the office of the Registrar in accordance with the holiday list of the Govemment of West Bengal. After thorough discussion on the Holiday List - 2015, it was resolved that the Holiday List - 2015 prepared and submitted by the office of the Registrar be accepted and approved for publication. Agenda (d) To ratify the action of the Hort'ble Vice-Chancellor in approving the proceedings of the meeting of the Board of Discipline dated 03.11.2014 pertaining to disposal of the matter of R.A. cases in B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Part-II (3-Tier) Examinations, 2014. Resolutions Resolved that the action of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor in approving the proceedings of the meeting of the Board of Discipline dated 03.11.2014 pertaining to disposal of the matter of R.A. cases in B.A.IB.Sc.IB.Com. Part-II (3-Tier) Examinations, 2014 be ratified. Agenda (e) To ratify the action of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor in nominating the Donor Member of the respective colleges for re-constitution of the next Governing Body of the Colleges. Resolutions Resolved that the action of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor in nominating the Donor Member from the list of the donor of the concemed undergraduate colleges, affiliated to Vidyasagar University, specified against each of the college, for reconstitution of the next Goveming Body of the college in accordance with the clause (h) of provision105 of the Vidyasagar University First Statutes, 1983 (amended up to 1997) based on the prayer of the colleges be ratified. Created as a State University in 1981, the fledgeling institution flourished rapidly. Having begun on a modest scale in 1985-86, with six post-graduate departments, the University now conducts studies in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science, social science, humanities and commerce, spread across twenty seven PG departments. The University is proud of its highly qualified and dedicated faculty members, motivated students and research scholars, and adequately equipped supporting and administrative staff who are capable of assimilating the forces of modernization and globalization in the field of higher education. The University is named after Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the legendary 19th century pioneering social reformer, social activist, litterateur who was dedicated to the cause of the upliftment of women. Since its inception the University has committed itself to the goal of teaching and learning in higher education, ensuring quality education and providing research and extra-curricular activities in the best possible manner in order to spread the benefit of higher education in a location which is relatively backward but which has a glorious history of playing a lead role in the freedom struggle of India. Within the last nine years of its existence, the University has registered its growth both qualitatively and quantitatively. Post- Graduate studies are conducted not only in 27 departments of the University but also in 35 colleges /institutions as well.
