KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK • KYNP is the first national park of TH was declared as a national park on September 18, 1962. • Covering an area of 2,165.55 sq.km. • It was declared an ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984. • It was declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO on July 14, 2005. • The most popular tourist activities such as bike cycling, night Safari, rafting, nature study and bird watching. 1. TARUTAO NATIONAL PARK • Tarutao NP was declared as a national park on April 19, 1974. • It was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984. • Tarutao NP is in the Andaman sea. • Cover 51 islands amount area of 1,490 sq.km. • It has a remarkable history. This island had been used as a penal colony for criminals and political prisoners. 2. MU KO SURIN - MU KO SIMILAN - AO PHANG-NGA NATIONAL PARKS COMPLEX A group of distinctive marine protected areas in the Andaman Coast of Thailand comprises 3 national parks : • Mu Ko Surin NP where coral reef in shallow water ecosystems are outstanding. • Mu Ko Similan National Park has a diversity in deep water coral reefs. • Ao Phang-nga National Park which is unique in the field of mangrove forests and karsts landscapes. This complex was included in the list of ASEAN Heritage Parks on December 18, 2003. 3.1 MU KO SURIN NATIONAL PARKS • Mu Ko Surin NP was declared as a national park on 9 July 1981. • Total area, the marine area is 135 sq km. The terrestrial area alone is 32.95 sq km and summation is 14,125 sq km. • It has a nice coastal scenic both coral reef and white sand beach. “Morgan Sea Gypsies” • Located at Ao Bon on Ko Surin Tai. • Their own unique lifestyles and culture. • They usually live on a boat called “Ka Bang”. Most important fauna Mu Ko Surin, one of the best place of Coral Reef in Southeast Asian Region Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) Manta Ray lesser Frigatebird (Fregata ariel) (Manta alfredi) Sea Turtle 3.2 MU KO SIMILAN NATIONAL PARKS • Mu Ko Similan NP it was declared as a national park on 1 September 1982. • The island are archipelago of 11 islands as Ko Huyong, Ko Payang, Ko Payan, Ko Miang, Ko Ha, Ko Hok, Ko Hin Pousar, Ko Similan, Ko Bangu, Ko Tachai and Ko Bon. There are full of resources both land and sea. • The most unique and beautiful coral reefs and sea creatures. • The white powdery beach, the surrounding crystal clear water and most beautiful view. 3.2 MU KO SIMILAN NATIONAL PARK Coconut Crab (Birgus latro) Colorful of Soft Coral Most important fauna at Ruean Kluai Mai of Ko Ha Bowmouth Guitarfish หอยมรกต Nicobar Pigeon (Rhina ancylostoma) (Amphidromus classiarius) (Caloenas nicobarica) Endemic sp. 3.3 AO PHANG-NGA NATIONAL PARKS • Ao phang-Nga NP was declared as a national park on April 29, 1981. KAENG KRACHAN FOREST COMPLEX ⚫The Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex is located in the eastern of Thailand adjacent to the forests in Myanmar. ⚫There are 4 protected areas, 3 NPs and 1 WS that are: Kaeng Krachan NP, Kui Buri NP, Chaloem Phra Kiat Thai Prachan NP and Maenam Phachi WS. ⚫Endemic plants found here are Champi Phet (Magnolia mediocris), Champi Doi (M. gustvii) and Taeng Phanoen Thung (Trichosanthes phonsenae). ⚫The Forest Complex was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Parks in 2003. 4.1 KAENG KRACHAN NATIONAL PARK • Kaeng Krachan NP was declared as a national park in TH on 12 June 1981. • It is the largest NP in TH (cover 2,914.70 sq.km) • The highest peak is 1,513 m. • It is border with Myanmar. • It is very important watershed and biodiversity • Birds watching and butterflies watching. Mast. var. siamensis) 4.2 KUI BURI NATIONAL PARK • Kui Buri NP was declared as a national park in TH on 20 April 1994. • The most important habitat for Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) and the Gaur (Bos gaurus). • One of the most significant forests in the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex. 4.2 KUI BURI NATIONAL PARK Most important fauna Gaur (Bos gaurus) Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) Trachypithecus obscurus Banteng (Bos javanicus) Most important flora Ironwood Kalamet maha phrom (Hopea odorata Roxb.) Drumm. ex Prain) (Mitrephora winitii Craib) 4.3 CHALOEM PHRA KIAT THAI PRACHAN • Chaloem Phra Kiat Thai Prachan NP was declared as a national park in TH on January 24, 2012. • It is very important watershed and biodiversity. • The most important habitat for wildlife. • One of the most significant forests in the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex. 4.4 MAENAM PHACHI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY • Maenam Phachi WS was declared on 1 August 1979. • It is very important watershed and biodiversity. • The most important habitat for wildlife. • One of the most significant forests in the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex. ▪AHP in TH 2019 5. HAT CHAO MAI NATIONAL PARK – MU KO LIBONG NON-HANTING AREA • It was declared as a ramsar site on 14 August 2002. • It covering 515,745 rai. • The most important habitat for Dugong or Sea Cow. • The most important sea-grass ecosystems. • Mangrove forests, limestone forests and beach forests • An archaeological sites of prehistoric cave painting. • The most important habitat for Birds migratory in the winter. • It was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Parks in 2019. • Hat Chao Mai NP was declared as a national park in TH on 14 October 1981. • Mu Ko Libong Non - Hunting Area was declared on 18 January 1979.
