Masons from Pyramid Shrine Temple in Stratford, CT celebrated the holidays by participating at several events. The clowns entertained spectators at the 45th Annual Seymour, Connecticut Christmas Parade. Sisters from Lady Martha No. 103 Order of the Eastern Star invited the clowns to their Mrs. Claus’s Kitchen pancake breakfast. Balloon twisting animals were made and holiday songs sung at the Stepney Green Tree Lighting ceremony in Monroe, Connecticut. The clowns assisted Frosty the Snowman while he illuminated a 50 foot Christmas tree. Brothers from America-St. John’s Lodge No. 8 and Day Spring Lodge No. 30 each had holiday parties at their Lodges. The clowns made a bunch of balloon crafts and assisted Santa Claus while he distributed gifts to the children.

Two Masonicare volunteers have been recognized as “Hometown Heroes” by the Hartford Courant. Marie Beaulier of East Hartford was featured earlier in the year in a story about her many years as a Hospice Volunteer among other selfless causes to which she volunteers her time, despite being blind. Mike Menta of Newington was featured in a November story about his participation in the Masonicare Vet-to-Vet volunteer program as a commitment to veterans now nearing the end of life. Mike spent 23 years in the military including three deployments to Iraq and Kuwait. “We are blessed to have such dedicated individuals helping us bring the best hospice care possible to our patients,” notes Marie Roman, supervisor of counseling and social work for Masonicare Partners’ hospice team.
