ELDERFLOWER JULEP COCKTAIL DESCRIPTION: INGREDIENTS: The origin of the Julep is based around the Middle Eastern NFBTVSFTPG(JO NFBTVSFPG&MEFSGMPXFS$PSEJBM custom of infusing mint and sugars into soft spirits. The Mint Julep is popular at the Kentucky Derby; reportedly serving over 10,000 a day. The Elderflower Julep is a modern twist on this classic drink, with the Elderflower Cordial used to sweeten the gin. The subsequent infusion of the mint with this spirit along with the fresh apple juice and sours makes for a very palatable cocktail which can be enjoyed all year round. COCKTAIL RECIPE: Clap your mint leaves to release their aroma and taste in to your Julep Tin. Squeeze in your Lemon Wedge. All PGyour wet ingredients directly in to the tin and fill it 2/3 full with crushed ice and churn. Taste to ensure you have achieved your desired balance for the drink. Cap the Julep Tin with more crushed ice, making a compact cone on the top to reduce dilution. 3 GIN RICKEY COCKTAIL DESCRIPTION: INGREDIENTS: The Rickey was originally created using Bourbon in the 2 measures of Gin 1 measure of Lime Juice 1880’s at the Shoomaker’s bar in Washington D.C. by ½ measure of Sugar Syrup George. A. Williamson; purportedly in collaboration with Soda Water top Democratic lobbyist Colonel Joe Rickey. It became a Lime Wheel to Garnish worldwide sensation when mixed with Gin a decade later. Since 2008 the Rickey has enjoyed a resurgence with the revival of classic cocktails. A group of Washington D.C. based bartenders - known as the DC Craft bartenders Guild – established July as Rickey Month. COCKTAIL RECIPE: In a Boston Glass add the Gin, Lime Juice and Sugar Syrup. Fill the Boston Glass with as much cubed ice as possible and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. Fill your Rocks Glass with cubed ice to the top. Using a Hawthorne Strainer over the Boston Glass, strain your shaken mixture in to the Rocks Glass and top with Soda Water Garnish by placing a Lime Wheel on the edge of the glass. 3 CLOVER CLUB COCKTAIL DESCRIPTION: INGREDIENTS: The Clover Club cocktail is a drink that pre-dates 2 measures of Gin Prohibition in the United States and is named after the 1 measure of Lemon Juice Philadelphia men’s club of the same name. In it’s heyday, ½ measure of Sugar Syrup the drink was described as being enjoyed by the 3 Raspberries (1 for garnish) “distinguished patron of the oak-panelled lounge". 1 Egg White Despite the use of what some may consider to be strange ingredients, namely egg white, the cocktail is enjoyable and is best described as tart with the added syrup giving the drink complexity. The (optional) egg white provides body as well as a foamy head. COCKTAIL RECIPE: Chill a Martini glass with a scoop of crushed ice before you start making the drink, this will ensure the glass is cold when you drink your cocktail. Add all ingredients in to Boston Glass and dry shake (without ice) until the mixture is frothy. Fill the Glass with cubed ice to the top and shake. Discard the crushed ice from the martini glass. Using a Hawthorne Strainer over the Boston Glass, strain your shaken mixture in to the chilled martini glass. Garnish by propping a raspberry on the rim of your glass. 4 BRAMBLE CREATED BY DICK BRADSELL COCKTAIL DESCRIPTION: INGREDIENTS: A product of the cocktail revolutionary Dick Bradsell, the 2 measures of Gin 1 measure of Lemon Juice Bramble is a simple and easy, yet delectable twist on the ½ measure of Sugar Syrup old favourite, the Gin Fix, swapping raspberry syrup for Crème de Mure drizzle blackberry liqueur. Blackberry to garnish The Bramble came to life in 1984 when Bradsell was working in Fred’s Club, a downtown Soho and was undeniably one of this most famous creation’s whilst working there.
