The Marvel Universe—An Overview
Welcome to the next step. The Marvel Super Heroes Advanced Set (also called MSHAS — if you can pronounce that) is the next step in the evolution of one of the most popular heroic RPGs of all time. While the Marvel Super Heroes Original Set (MSHOS -the yellow box) was a down-anddirty, cola-and-pretzels, dirt-simple introduction to role-playing, this product is different. This product assumes you know what you’re doing. Unlike the Original Set, this set starts with the basic assumption that you have played RPGs before, most likely the Original Set. (For those who have wandered into this book despite the big letters declaring that this is an Advanced set, don’t worry — we summarize the major points from the previous set as we go along, both for your benefit and players of the Original who don’t want to be flipping between two books.) You know what role-playing is. You’ve had characters that could web-spin up a storm, could wall-crawl with the best of them, and those that were the best at what they did (snikkt!). Now you’re ready for more than your standard going toe-to-toe with the Hulk. This set of two books (a 96-page Players’ Book and a 64-page Judge’s Book), along with additional cards, maps, and stand-ups is for you. Don’t let the size of this product, the amount of text included, put you off. Some is familiar ground, further explanations of FEAT rolls and abilities that have developed in the two years since the creation of MSHOS. -

Mutantkind in the World of Darkness by the Poet Updated 2011/02/13
Mutantkind in the World of Darkness by the Poet Updated 2011/02/13 His eyes opened involuntarily, as they had for thousands of previous days, but this time it was a little harder than before. The eyelids pressed resolutely open through the green gel that surrounded him in the tank, and he drew his first conscious breath. The gel that he was forced to breathe was so thick that it was dangerous to inhale too quickly, or with too much force. Slowly, gently. In and out. Keep the heartbeat low. Naturally, his heartrate spiked as soon as his eyes focused on the room beyond the tank, the lab in which he was suspended. While the speaker wasn't turned on (and the gel naturally absorbed sound), he couldn't hear the commotion. He could, however, see another tank being smashed from the outside. How was that even possible? Adamantium-laced glass. These tanks were purchased from Crypt, as he understood it. Taken directly from the Department. Short of the Hulk, who could shatter it? The gel in the alternate tank was sloughing off of the naked body of one of his cohabitants. He couldn't make it out through the blur of his own gel, and the tank wall. Why hadn't someone turned on the correct light? He winced, and winced again with the resulting pain in his lungs, when he saw another figure surge forward and collect something from the glass shards on the floor. The figure used whatever it was to slash open the throat and chest of his companion. -

King A Thesis in the Field of English Literature for the Degree of Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies Harvard University November 2016 Abstract The objective of this thesis is to demonstrate the evolution of racial passing to covering, as a result of the changing social climate. Additionally, I will be demonstrating the role of authenticity in self-identification versus group categorization. I will be discussing the problems with utilizing group categorization and how this affects one’s psyche. Through the lens of passing literature such as Nella Larsen’s Passing and Kenji Yoshino’s autobiographical essay on Covering we will explore how this evolution has transferred to literature such as graphic novels. In particular, I will be analyzing selected works by Chris Claremont from Marvel’s X-Men series, and how the topic of racial passing and covering is discussed in non-traditional literature.
