From the Jets, Elrich made the move to his hometown club in their inaugural season and was one of the very first players signed by the Western Sydney Wanderers. Elrich went on to make 11 appearances during his first stint at the club before moving to Adelaide United. The defender made over 100 appearances for the Reds between 2013 and 2018, and won plenty of silverware including an FFA Cup, Hyundai A-League Premiership and Championship trophy. A testing end to his time at Adelaide saw Elrich sidelined with injury before making his return in Round 24 last season. Adelaide's FFA Cup win in 2014 Elrich has developed into one of the most reliable defenders in the league, bringing with him a wealth of experience to be able to slot into any position in the backline which wasn't the case when he first started playing football. "I started as a winger at Newcastle, I remember Mark Jones was telling Gary van Egmond to play me at right back," explained Elrich. "I stuck to full-back from there, right or left- back, and now I think with age I've slowly gone back to centreback. "I don't know what message the coach is trying to send me, but for me it's just about doing what I have to do for the team, and I'm really enjoying myself again."
