Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. • Lepidoptera, Noctuidae)

Despite the proximity of Sredna Gora Mountains to Sofia, the insect assemblages of this region are poorly studied. As a result of two studies carried out as a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment in the Natura 2000 Protected Areas: Sredna Gora and Popintsi, a rich diversity of insects was discovered, with 107 saproxylic and epigeobiont Coleoptera species and 355 Lepidoptera species recorded. This research was conducted during a short one-season field study in the surrounding areas of the town of Panagyurishte and Oborishte Village. Special attention was paid to protected species and their conservation status. Of the Coleoptera recorded, 22 species were of conservation significance. Forty-five Lepidoptera species of conservation importance were also recorded. KEY WORDS.WORDS. • Some Butterfly Observations in the Karaganda Oblast of Kazakstan (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera) by Bent Kjeldgaard Larsen Received 3.111.2003
©Ges. zur Förderung d. Erforschung von Insektenwanderungen e.V. München, download unter www.zobodat.at Atalanta (August 2003) 34(1/2): 153-165, colour plates Xl-XIVa, Wurzburg, ISSN 0171-0079 Some butterfly observations in the Karaganda Oblast of Kazakstan (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera) by Bent Kjeldgaard Larsen received 3.111.2003 Abstract: Unlike the Ural Mountains, the Altai, and the Tien Shan, the steppe region of Cen tral Asia has been poorly investigated with respect to butterflies - distribution maps of the re gion's species (1994) show only a handful occurring within a 300 km radius of Karaganda in Central Kazakstan. It is therefore not surprising that approaching 100 additional species were discovered in the Karaganda Oblast during collecting in 1997, 2001 and 2002. During two days of collecting west of the Balkash Lake in May 1997, nine species were identified. On the steppes in the Kazakh Highland, 30 to 130 km south of Karaganda, about 50 butterflies were identified in 2001 and 2002, while in the Karkaralinsk forest, 200 km east of Karaganda, about 70 were encountered. Many of these insects are also to be found in western Europe and almost all of those noted at Karkaralinsk and on the steppes occur in South-Western Siberia. Observations revealed Zegris eupheme to be penetrating the area from the west and Chazara heydenreichi from the south. However, on the western side of Balkash Lake the picture ap peared to change. Many of the butterflies found here in 1997 - Parnassius apollonius, Zegris pyrothoe, Polyommatus miris, Plebeius christophi and Lyela myops - mainly came from the south, these belonging to the semi-desert and steppe fauna of Southern Kazakstan.

Abstract: Faunistic data and characterization of some rare species of the Keszthelyi Mountains are published. Faunistic surveys were carried out in three different periods; the first period took from the early twentieth cen- tury till 1968. At the beginning, only scattered faunistic samples, later (between 1952 and1967) data from light trap network of plant- and forest protection network were known. In the second period (between 1979 and 1984) an intensive faunistic investigation was carried out by light trapping and lighting in the southern part of the Keszthelyi Mountains. Finally, in the third period (between 2001 and 2004) the different nature conserva- tion areas were sampled in the southern and northern parts of the mountains. From the Keszthelyi Mountains, altogether 896 species of butterflies and moths are known based on 6596 faunistic data. The number of the pro- tected species is 72 . INTRODUCTION The fauna of noctuoid moths (the families Erebidae and Noctuidae) of Kazakhstan is still poorly studied. Only the fauna of West Kazakhstan has been studied satisfactorily (Gorbunov 2011). On the faunas of other parts of the country, only fragmentary data are published (Lederer, 1853; 1855; Aibasov & Zhdanko 1982; Hacker & Peks 1990; Lehmann et al. 1998; Benedek & Bálint 2009; 2013; Korb 2013). In contrast to the West Kazakhstan, the fauna of noctuid moths of East Kazakhstan was studied inadequately.
