1) Give each student a copy of the worksheet. Ask them to work in pairs to predict the answers to the first part.

2) Play the complete song. Students complete the worksheet.

3) Students check their answers in pairs or in groups.

4) Correct, and point out the use of Future will and Second Conditional (If I could, I would / If a great wave should fall, it would fall upon us all) Grammar note: the line “I’ll go wherever you will go”, so soon after the Second Conditional, may seem like a Mixed Conditional, but it is in fact a separate statement.

5) Play the song and sing together.

Complete lyrics:

So lately, been wonderin’ Who will be there to take my place Repeat Chorus When I'm gone, you'll need love To light the shadows on your face Runaway with my heart If a great wave should fall Runaway with my hope It would fall upon us all Runaway with my love And between the sand and stone Could you make it on your own I know now, just quite how My life and love might still go on Chorus: In your heart, in your mind If I could, then I would I'll stay with you for all of time I'll go wherever you will go Way up high or down low Repeat Chorus I'll go wherever you will go If I could turn back time And maybe, I'll find out I'll go wherever you will go The way to make it back someday If I could make you mine To watch you, to guide you I'll go wherever you will go Through the darkest of your days I'll go wherever you will go If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us all Well I hope there's someone out there Who can bring me back to you
