Ask them to work in pairs to predict the answers to the first part. 2) Play the complete song. Students complete the worksheet. 3) Students check their answers in pairs or in groups. 4) Correct, and point out the use of Future will and Second Conditional (If I could, I would / If a great wave should fall, it would fall upon us all) Grammar note: the line “I’ll go wherever you will go”, so soon after the Second Conditional, may seem like a Mixed Conditional, but it is in fact a separate statement. 5) Play the song and sing together. Complete lyrics: So lately, been wonderin’ Who will be there to take my place Repeat Chorus When I'm gone, you'll need love To light the shadows on your face Runaway with my heart If a great wave should fall Runaway with my hope It would fall upon us all Runaway with my love And between the sand and stone Could you make it on your own I know now, just quite how My life and love might still go on Chorus: In your heart, in your mind If I could, then I would I'll stay with you for all of time I'll go wherever you will go Way up high or down low Repeat Chorus I'll go wherever you will go If I could turn back time And maybe, I'll find out I'll go wherever you will go The way to make it back someday If I could make you mine To watch you, to guide you I'll go wherever you will go Through the darkest of your days I'll go wherever you will go If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us all Well I hope there's someone out there Who can bring me back to you This worksheet is to be used for educational purposes only Activity © Tune into English 2011 – www.tuneintoenglish.com Worksheet written by Prof. Anna Napoli, Trieste Wherever You Will Go - The Calling Fill in the gaps in the first two stanzas with the missing words: all – place – way – someone – someday - face – own – darkest – stone So lately, I've been wonderin’ Who will be there to take my ___________ When I'm gone, you'll need love To light the shadows on your ___________ If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us ___________ And between the sand and ___________ Could you make it on your ___________ Reorder the lines from the song to form the Chorus : I'll go wherever you will go Way up high or down low I'll go wherever you will go If I could, then I would And maybe, I'll find out The ___________ to make it back ___________ To watch you, to guide you Through the ___________ of your days If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us all Well I hope there's ___________ out there Who can bring me back to you (Repeat Chorus) Complete the lines with the correct endings: Runaway with my ___________ hope Runaway with my ___________ love Runaway with my ___________ heart Complete the lines with the following rhyming words: time/mind now/how I know___________ , just quite ___________ My life and love might still go on In your heart and your ___________ I'll stay with you for all of___________ (Repeat Chorus) Reorder the lines from the song: I'll go wherever you will go I'll go wherever you will go If I could turn back time I'll go wherever you will go If I could make you mine This worksheet is to be used for educational purposes only Activity © Tune into English 2011 – www.tuneintoenglish.com Worksheet written by Prof. Anna Napoli, Trieste .
