    ‘ICE DREAMS’ CAST BIOS SHELLEY LONG (Harriet Clayton) – Shelley Long is an Emmy® and Golden Globe-winning actress. She began her career after attending Northwestern University by performing in small films and local theater, eventually becoming co-host and associate producer of a critically acclaimed Chicago magazine show “Sorting it Out,” for which she won three local Emmys. She eventually returned to her first passion, acting, and joined Chicago’s famed Second City improvisational comedy troupe. Shortly after, Long landed a role as barmaid Diane Chambers in the long-running NBC comedy “Cheers.” Long entertained audiences for five seasons, garnering an Emmy and two Golden Globes. She returned for the series’ top-rated finale and has reprised her “Cheers” role in guest appearances on NBC’s “Frasier,” one episode garnering an Emmy nomination. Long recently starred in a film short titled “A Couple of White Chicks at the Hairdresser,” and starred in a children’s DVD, “Mr. Vinegar and the Curse.” In 2006, Long starred in “Honeymoon With Mom” on Lifetime, and co-starred in the Hallmark Channel Valentine’s Day movie, “Falling In Love with the Girl Next Door.” She has made a number of guest TV appearances including “Boston Legal,” “Yes, Dear, “Joan of Arcadia,” “Complete Savages” and, most recently, ABC’s hit comedy “Modern Family.” Long was seen in the Robert Altman film “Dr. T and the Women” for Artisan Entertainment.     WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD OVERVIEW: MAKERS: Women In Hollywood showcases the women of showbiz, from the earliest pioneers to present-day power players, as they influence the creation of one of the country’s biggest commodities: entertainment. In the silent movie era of Hollywood, women wrote, directed and produced, plus there were over twenty independent film companies run by women. That changed when Hollywood became a profitable industry. The absence of women behind the camera affected the women who appeared in front of the lens. Because men controlled the content, they created female characters based on classic archetypes: the good girl and the fallen woman, the virgin and the whore. The women’s movement helped loosen some barriers in Hollywood. A few women, like 20th century Fox President Sherry Lansing, were able to rise to the top. Especially in television, where the financial stakes were lower and advertisers eager to court female viewers, strong female characters began to emerge. Premium cable channels like HBO and Showtime allowed edgy shows like Sex in the City and Girls , which dealt frankly with sex from a woman’s perspective, to thrive. One way women were able to gain clout was to use their stardom to become producers, like Jane Fonda, who had a breakout hit when she produced 9 to 5 . But despite the fact that 9 to 5 was a smash hit that appealed to broad audiences, it was still viewed as a “chick flick”. In Hollywood, movies like Bridesmaids and The Hunger Games , with strong female characters at their center and strong women behind the scenes, have indisputably proven that women centered content can be big at the box office.

Is sport a fundamental component of children’s ed- ucation? Does sport equip children with basic life skills? At Save the Dream, our answer is “yes”. We passionately believe that the positive role of sport is vital for our youth; for society. This is supported by extensive studies and analysis, and by leading international institutions who have also unanimously and enthusiastically said “Yes!” The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), guardian for human rights, agrees, as does UNESCO, promot- er of world’s education, and UNICEF, universal protector for children’s development. Our mandate has been developed from this belief and our strength to act upon it Is our driving force. Throughout the past two years as reviewed in this document, we have done our utmost to ad- vance access to sport for youth across several continents, including Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

    The Good News November 2020 In This Issue... From the desk of….Pastor Nancy Pearson Thanksgiving and Beyond! From the Desk... 1 The holidays look different this year. Our plans to gather our extended families together for a sumptuous dinner on Thanksgiving Day may have to be postponed. Christmas gatherings and large groups of friends and families gathering around the Christmas tree may not happen in the same Youth News 2 way. I wonder if this necessity to rethink our holiday plans gives us an opportunity to reconsider what our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations are really Christian Ministries 3 all about. What if we used these days and hours when we’d be preparing for a houseful of guests and massive cooking events in the kitchen, to focus on what we’re thankful for. Maybe it’s a good time to have a basket on your Session News 4 kitchen table and some autumn colored papers…to write something every day that you are grateful for. Maybe you’ll find an item or a picture to put in your “Thankful Basket” that reminds you to give thanks to God for a person Treasures News or event. 5 And maybe as the pandemic has required us to think more carefully about how we shop and even how we spend, we could think about others who Upcoming Sermons 6 don’t have the resources that we have, for those in our community and beyond who have been impacted by unemployment, illness, and natural disaster.     Metric Ambiguity and Flow in Rap Music: A Corpus-Assisted Study of Outkast’s “Mainstream” (1996) MITCHELL OHRINER[1] University of Denver ABSTRACT: Recent years have seen the rise of musical corpus studies, primarily detailing harmonic tendencies of tonal music. This article extends this scholarship by addressing a new genre (rap music) and a new parameter of focus (rhythm). More specifically, I use corpus methods to investigate the relation between metric ambivalence in the instrumental parts of a rap track (i.e., the beat) and an emcee’s rap delivery (i.e., the flow). Unlike virtually every other rap track, the instrumental tracks of Outkast’s “Mainstream” (1996) simultaneously afford hearing both a four-beat and a three-beat metric cycle. Because three-beat durations between rhymes, phrase endings, and reiterated rhythmic patterns are rare in rap music, an abundance of them within a verse of “Mainstream” suggests that an emcee highlights the three-beat cycle, especially if that emcee is not prone to such durations more generally. Through the construction of three corpora, one representative of the genre as a whole, and two that are artist specific, I show how the emcee T-Mo Goodie’s expressive practice highlights the rare three-beat affordances of the track.
