Contact: Diane Morgan Alyse Nagode Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Takes Starring Role Alongside Sting & Shaggy in “Gotta Get Back My Baby” Music Video November 9, 2018, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth takes a starring role alongside Sting & Shaggy in the official music video for their new track “Gotta Get Back My Baby,” the latest single, co-produced by Teflon (Wyclef Jean, Fat Joe, Ruff Ryders) and Martin Kierszenbaum (Sting, Mylène Farmer, Lady Gaga), off their album "44/876," which has spent 17 weeks atop the Billboard Reggae chart. The official YouTube music video, which amassed over 2.3 million views in just a few days, was filmed in the vein of ‘80s and ‘90s buddy cop television series and movies, including “Miami Vice” and “Bad Boys,” and was directed by Michael Garcia. The video pairs Sting and Shaggy as two Miami detectives who convince their captain that they’re “going to need the Spider,” meaning his prized Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, as part of their South Beach stakeout for “the most dangerous woman in the country.” What could go wrong?! The FIAT brand is also supporting the video globally across its digital and social channels, including in the U.S on Instagram,Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. “We continue to strive for the unexpected in our marketing efforts across all FCA brands and, certainly here, the FIAT brand’s fun-spirited personality gives us the opportunity to be just a little bit more adventurous and playful in our approach with our music partners," said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of the FIAT Brand, FCA.

  • “The Gospel According to Sting” Proper 17C (September 1, 2019
1 “The Gospel According to Sting” Proper 17C (September 1, 2019) Rev. Dr. David A. Kaden >>Put a hand on our shoulder and point us in the right direction. Put our hand on someone’s shoulder and let it matter. Amen<< On July 10th, NPR’s “All Songs Considered” released a special called the “Tiny Desk Concert,” which featured two musicians performing together: Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner - also known as “Sting,” once the lead singer of the band The Police - and reggae star Orville Richard Burrell - also known as “Shaggy.”1 Sting and Shaggy - an Englishman and a Jamaican. The two have collaborated on projects before - they put out an album together in 2018 and went on tour - and they’re buddies. Shaggy affectionately calls Sting, “Sting-y.” On the day they sat down together at NPR’s Tiny Desk, which looks like a set in a Barnes and Noble store, they played several songs, including Sting’s Englishman in New York. That song was first released in February of 1988, and it has a little something for everyone: a reggae beat for reggae fans; a saxophone for jazz fans; strings for classical music fans; Sting’s voice for Police fans; it’s light-hearted for pop fans; and it was performed most recently in an NPR studio for….NPR fans. The song’s lyrics tell a story about living in the U.S. but being from a different country - living as an Englishman in New York. Sitting in NPR’s Tiny Desk studio, Sting played the guitar, Shaggy clapped the beat, and Sting sang these words: I don’t take coffee, I take tea, my dear / I like my toast done on one side / And you can hear it in my accent when I talk / I’m an Englishman in New York / See me walking down Fifth Avenue / A walking cane here at my side / I take it everywhere I walk / I’m an Englishman in New York When Shaggy took over the lyrics he changed the words and sang, “I’m a Jamaican in New York,” delighting the small crowd of fans in the NPR studio that day.

  • The Spiral Dynamics of Cinema Studies Provisionally Drafted by Alex Burns ([email protected])
1 The Spiral Dynamics of Cinema Studies Provisionally Drafted by Alex Burns ([email protected]). Version 0.1 (December 1998) Comment (8th November 2007) I wrote this as a course proposal outline whilst in the Cinema Studies undergraduate program at Australia’s La Trobe University in 1998. I had been studying the Spiral Dynamics® psychological model of levels of human existence for about 18 months, and had also been corresponding with Howard Bloom and Richard Metzger. This represented a first attempt to codify the SD model using film content as examples of the models and dynamics. The artefact is from my ‘early stage’ exploration of the SD model, written with good intent but a novice’s understanding. This document has several limitations. It relied on the SD colour scheme, and prioritised breadth and span over situated depth. The selected films and sequences reflected several personal theories about media analysis and the scientific debate on memetics and were heavily influenced by the pre-millennial sub-currents of the mid- to-late 1990s. I hadn’t taken the SD practitioner training I and II at the time. My knowledge of Cinema Studies frameworks and models also varied. Thus, today I wouldn’t necessarily endorse the films or their SD codification now as correct or representative of the Beck & Cowan model or Clare W. Graves’ original research. This is provided for historical interest and self-research purposes only. I subsequently developed a more precise methodology in 2003 whilst in the Strategic Foresight masters program at Swinburne University. I trialled it in workshops at SD practitioner training and the Australian festival This Is Not Art in 2003 and 2004.

Big Flat World Sharon Suzuki-Martinez A father keeps a cricket in his wallet. The cricket is alive, but flat as a dollar bill. It’s a rare little insect worth fields of gold. No one knows about the cricket, not even the father’s wife nor their thriving brood of children. The father and cricket rejoice in their secret wealth. Many seasons wing by till one day finds the father out farming his modest patch of bons mots. He is startled by tiny lilting music apparently issuing forth from his loins. The father whips out his wallet from which leaps another cricket. This cricket is also flat, but round as the wildly unpopular Susan B. Anthony dollar. Who are you? the father asks. I am son of the cricket, off to see the big flat world in all its grass and glory, it chirps. While the father falls prey to silence, the son smiles and rolls away shining down the road, soon vanishing. A cappella, the fathers drone a sorrow-song to the horizon, so empty now of value. They Dance Alone Why are these women here dancing on their own ? Why is there this sadness in their eyes ? Why are the soldiers here Their faces fixed like stone ? I can't see what it is that they despise CHORUS They're dancing with the missing They're dancing with the dead They dance with the invisible ones Their anguish is unsaid They're dancing with their fathers They're dancing with their sons They're dancing with their husbands They dance alone They dance alone It's the only form of protest they're allowed I've seen their silent faces They scream so loud If they were to speak these words They'd go missing too Another woman on the torture table What else can they do? One day we'll dance on their graves One day we'll sing our freedom One day we'll laugh in our joy And we'll dance (twice) Ellas danzan con los desaparecidos Danzan con los muertos Danzan con amores invisibles Con silenciosa angustia Danzan con sus padres, con sus hijos, con sus esposos Ellas danzan solas, danzan solas Hey Mr Pinochet, you've sown a bitter crop It's foreign money that supports you One day the money's going to stop No wages for your torturers No budget for your guns Can you think of your own mother Dancin' with her invisible son?
