Memories will be stirred of one of the finest chapters in Dynamo Kyiv's European history, and one of their greatest players, as they travel to to take on Ferencváros in the second round of Group G games. • Dynamo claimed 's first piece of European silverware with victory in the 1975 European Cup Winners' Cup final against Ferencváros, whose current coach enjoyed glittering spells as a Dynamo player and coach. • In the present day, both sides are already playing catch-up in Group G. Dynamo were beaten 2-0 at home by Juventus on Matchday 1, while Ferencváros went down 5-1 at Barcelona, their heaviest European away defeat since 1998. Previous meetings • That 1975 European Cup Winners' Cup final at St. Jakob-Park in Basel is the sides' only previous fixture. 's Dynamo ran out comfortable winners to claim their first European trophy, Volodymyr Onyshchenko scoring twice in the first half and Oleh Blokhin sealing their triumph with a third midway through the second period. Form guide Ferencváros • Having claimed their 31st league title – and second in succession – in 2019/20, Ferencváros are making their second appearance in the UEFA Champions League group stage, having featured in 1995/96. • Twenty-five years ago the Hungarian club finished third in a section behind Ajax and Real Madrid, four of their five points coming against Swiss club Grasshoppers – including their sole victory, a 3-0 away win. • All of Ferencváros’s next five UEFA Champions League campaigns foundered in the qualifying phase, including in 2019/20 when they came through two rounds only to suffer a heavy defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the third qualifying round (1-1 a, 0-4 h) – the second leg equalling their heaviest home European loss. • Ferencváros went on to defeat Sūduva of Lithuania in the UEFA Europa League play-offs (0-0 a, 4-2 h) before picking up seven points in the group stage to finish third in their section behind Espanyol and Ludogorets. • Rebrov's team scored two or more goals in each of their first four UEFA Champions League matches this season, beating Swedish side Djurgården 2-0 at home in the first qualifying round before 2-1 successes at Celtic and at home to Dinamo Zagreb. They drew 3-3 at Molde in the first leg of their play-off tie and went through on away goals after a scoreless home draw in the return. • The most successful of Fradi's 12 previous European Cup campaigns came in 1965/66, when they got as far as the quarter-finals before losing to Internazionale. • Ferencváros are the first Hungarian club to feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage since Debrecen in 2009/10 – only the country's second appearance after Ferencváros in 1995. • Ferencváros are unbeaten in their last five home European matches (D2 L3). • That 1975 meeting with Dynamo is Ferencváros's only previous fixture against a Ukrainian club. Dynamo • Dynamo finished as Ukrainian runners-up behind Shakhtar for the fourth season running in 2019/20, although they did claim a 21st domestic cup, defeating Vorskla 8-7 on penalties in the final after a 1-1 draw. • In Europe, Bilo-Syni lost to Club Brugge 4-3 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round before moving into the UEFA Europa League group stage, where they were eliminated after finishing third in their section behind Malmö and Copenhagen. • Dynamo kicked off their 2020/21 European campaign with a 2-0 home win against AZ Alkmaar in their one-off third qualifying round tie. They then eased past Gent in the two-legged play-offs (2-1 a, 3-0 h), scoring in each game. • Dynamo's most successful UEFA Champions League campaign came in 1998/99 when they made it as far as the semi-finals. Twelve of their subsequent 13 appearances in the competition proper have ended in the group stage, including the most recent in 2016/17 when they finished bottom of their section. • The Kyiv side had gone out in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase three seasons running before 2020/21. • The 2-1 victory at Gent in this season's play-offs ended Dynamo's run of six European away games without a win (D3 L3). • Dynamo have won all three of their games against Hungarian clubs in UEFA competition, beating MTK Budapest 4-0
