The 4th Support Our Kids Reunion at Tohoku Fukushi University HABATAKI・翔 REPORT December 2015 Support Our Kids Committee Purpose / What is the HABATAKI Project? Purpose Thank you for participating in the 4th Support Our Kids Reunion and to your continuous cooperation and support to the Support Our Kids project. The Support Our Kids project is a 10-year project which aims to support the independence of children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and nurture them into becoming future reconstruction leaders. With the cooperation and support of embassies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we provide overseas homestay program to make this happen. This year, we started a new homestay program in Australia and have now sent a total of 290 students abroad. With the cooperation of Tokyo Big Sight, we also held “STAND UP SUMMIT 2015” for students to discuss reconstruction. Returnees of our homestay program who started their own project, HABATAKI, are currently working on “Tohoku x Nepal Reconstruction Outreach Project” to support children affected by the Nepal Earthquake. I feel that these children are working their way to become the future reconstruction leaders of Tohoku. The Reunion event is held for participants to present their opinions on the current situation of Tohoku, experiences abroad, and the plans for their future. We also have friends, guardians and supporters of these children in attendance to the event. To those who will be presenting today, we hope you will tell us all about your experiences and to the listeners, kindly lend your ears and continue to support these children. -

It is because of this that we passionately broadcast our message of peace to the rest of the world, and why the Peace Arch Hiroshima Project was developed for the building of a sustainable mechanism that will support activities contributing to peace. From July 27 to August 5, a variety of events will be held as part of this project, including the "Peace Field," an international peace exchange event, and a World Peace Concert, featuring top musicians from Japan and the rest of the world, who endorse the project's aims. As a part of this project, The World Business Conference for World Peace, an international conference originating in Hiroshima, is being held in collaboration with Japanese and international economic groups, local business communities, NGOs, the mass media, and includes the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japan Tourism Agency, and the World Economic Forum (Davos Forum). -

Healthy Attendance for a Vintage Year!
News Release For immediate distribution Re-cap of the 27th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal: Healthy attendance for a vintage year! Montreal, Monday, July 10th, 2006 – If the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal was particularly successful this year, it’s almost entirely due to the extraordinary mix of artistry that marked this 27th edition of the event. Not that we haven’t come to expect surprises, but this year was a true feast for the ears and eyes. Featuring a whole lot of new blood and an astonishing variety of hybrid genres, this year 30 countries were represented at the Festival—a record number—including Italy (with Suono Italia), featured country of the Festival, which we welcomed as we would an old friend. Special honours at this year’s event were also given to the State of Louisiana, the birthplace of jazz and scene of last year’s natural disaster. As the public has grown to expect, it wasn’t just jazz but its many musical relatives that were heard throughout the site. Even the series devoted to the good ol’ blues took on a new vitality. So maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that this year’s Festival enjoyed record-breaking ticket sales, with a full 50 of the 150 indoor shows completely sold out. The beautiful exterior site was better arranged than ever, and the exterior program of about 350 free shows registered a healthy attendance of at least 2 million visits, once again demonstrating Montrealers’ diverse musical interests. Even though storm clouds darkened the first few days of the event, Mother Nature herself finally surrendered to the crowds’ enthusiasm at the second Grand événement. -
