These victories have resulted in a busy itinerary of international recital and concerto engagements and also the release of two new recordings for the dynamic young talent lauded by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as being “a performer without fear or technical limitation.” Recent and forthcoming concerto performances include appearances with the symphony orchestras of Columbus, Chautauqua, Dubuque, and Roswell. In recital, highlights include YooJin’s recent Carnegie Hall debut and concerts at Jordan Hall and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series in Chicago. A passionate chamber musician, YooJin has performed with Caramoor’s Rising Stars and toured with Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute and Musicians From Marlboro. Internationally, YooJin has performed with the KBS Symphony Orchestra and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer, Bulgaria National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Spain’s Extremadura Orchestra; and recitals in Japan in Sendai, Nagoya and at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tokyo. She is also regularly heard on the radio, including a recent appearance on WQXR’s McGraw Hill Young Artists Showcase. YooJin’s latest victories at CAG and Sendai follow a long line of international competition success. In 2013, she won Japan’s fourth International Munetsugu Violin Competition, which included the loan of the 1697 ‘Rainville’ Stradivari violin. She was also a top prize winner at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, the Michael Hill International Violin Competition (including the Audience Prize and Best Performance of the New Zealand Commission Work), and the Yehudi Menuhin Competition. YooJin is a co-founder of The Kallaci String Quartet, which made its international debut at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea and the Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music. Recognized for her creative work in chamber music, she won the 2011 Borromeo String Quartet Guest Artist Award, and in 2009 she was awarded the Schloss Weikersheim Scholarship as part of the London String Quartet Competition. YooJin has also participated in the Marlboro and Ravinia Festivals, where she worked with artists such as Menahem Pressler, Dénes Várjon, and Peter Wiley. YooJin holds a Bachelor of Music from The Korean National University of Arts, where she studied under Nam Yun Kim. Since its foundation in 1441 by the 19-year-old King Henry VI, choral services in the Chapel, sung by this choir, have been a fundamental part of life in the College. Through the centuries, people from across Cambridge, the UK and, more recently, the world have listened to the Choir at these services. Despite its deep roots in musical history, King’s has always been at the forefront of technological innovation. In 2012 it created its ‘impeccable’ record label to capture some of the rich heritage of the College, to feature not only the Choir and other resident musicians, but also its prestigious alumni. This recording features two alumni of King’s: Christopher Seaman (conductor, Cello Concerto), a graduate of King’s, and Guy Johnston (soloist, Cello Concerto), a former Chorister. 2 HERBERT HOWELLS AN ENGLISH MASS The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge Britten Sinfonia Stephen Cleobury conductor Ben Parry assistant conductor TE DEUM AND MAGNIFICAT The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge King’s Voices ‘COLLEGIUM REGALE’ Britten Sinfonia Stephen Cleobury conductor CELLO CONCERTO Guy Johnston cello Britten Sinfonia Christopher Seaman conductor ORGAN WORKS Stephen Cleobury organ 3 CD 1 48:58 1 TE DEUM (COLLEGIUM REGALE) 8:53 AN ENGLISH MASS 2 I Kyrie 5:42 3 II Credo * 8:41 4 III Sursum corda 0:58 5 IV Sanctus 2:50 6 V Benedictus 4:13 7 VI Agnus Dei 3:35 8 VII Gloria 9:09 9 MAGNIFICAT (COLLEGIUM REGALE) | orch.

  • Masterclass Programme 2020
1 Class of 2019 ABOUT Hellensmusic is a music festival that takes place every May in and around Hellens Manor, Herefordshire. Its aims are threefold: to create opportunities for world-class musicians to collaborate outside the concert circuit and explore new ideas; to provide a platform for talented music students from all over the UK and beyond to learn from leading experts; and to bring great music to this corner of England, inspiring local audiences. Hellensmusic Masterclass Programme consists of six days of intense learning, with individual masterclasses, chamber music classes and music improvisation sessions taught by the Festival’s resident artists. The course culminates in two final concerts where students will have the opportunity to perform some of the pieces they worked on during the week and play alongside their tutors in chamber music ensembles. Our aim is to create a rich and inspiring musical week that can fast-track meaningful learning. We create a welcoming environment where everyone is warmly encouraged to explore, be curious and enjoy music to the fullest. Beyond the masterclasses, students have the chance to engage with their tutors at meals and breaks and can see them in action at rehearsals and performances. This provides a unique opportunity for informal learning, which sets Hellensmusic apart from other short courses. “An invaluable experience. I feel I gained so much knowledge from the tutors and learnt so much in such a short time. It has been a wonderful, encouraging environment in which to learn” THE TEAM We are proud to have a team of resident artists who are not only acclaimed performers but also committed and passionate teachers.

We first met in the final of the BBC Young Musician Competition 2000 at the age of 19, read through some sonatas together later that year on a tour of the Middle East, and have since shared a stage in concert halls and festivals all over the world. We’ve covered a vast amount of duo repertoire along the way, as well as expanding into larger formations (most significantly the Aronowitz Ensemble), but inevitably there are certain pieces we’ve become especially attached to, and which have seemed particularly significant for us on our journeys through life.
