U.S. NATIONAL TEAM FINAL NOTES FOR SUMMER OF 2007 contact: Niall Adler | c: (714) 331-6412 | [email protected] | www.usabaseball.com A LOOK AT THE SUMMER USA BASEBALL SCHEDULE (25-12) Battered and bruised near the end, Team USA (25-12) finished off a 37-game, 57- June 19 vs. Oil Can Boyd All-Stars day summer in third place at the World Port Tournament. The team met for June 22 @ Vermont Mountaineers Montpelier, VT (MRF) W 5-0 the first time on June 19 and without trials, played that night and finished up a six- June 23 @ Torrington Twisters day New England swing at 5-1. They went on to play 10-straight days starting on- Torrington, CT (Fuessenich Park) L 3-4 June 29 against Chinese Taipei and Japan. They took four of five from Taipei, and June 24 @ Newport Gulls Newport, RI (Cardines Field) W 5-4 lost 3-2 to Japan, for the first time on American soil in the annual collegiate series. Two of those losses were by a single run. Ryan Berry (Rice) had the third lowest ERA amongst pitch- ers in Rotterdam with an 0.61 ERA... Brett Hunter (Pepperdine) had the third lowest batting average against amongst the five teams at the World Port (.130) and the best strikeout to innings ratio (16.20).
