Press release 22 June 2012 One in Ten Citi Employees in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan Become Volunteers Approximately 400 people in 12 cities of Russia, in Ukraine and Kazakhstan took part in Citi’s Global Community Day Moscow – Approximately 400 Citi employees in Russia and the CIS together with friends and family members joined 60 thousand colleagues in 95 countries worldwide to take part in Citi’s Global Community Day. Volunteers in Russia organized projects to help children, people with disabilities and the elderly. The day’s activities also include efforts to care for homeless animals and environmental clean-up projects. Citi’s volunteers both initiated their own projects and joined the efforts of public organizations, in total participating in 23 social projects in the 12 cities of Russia where the bank has a presence. Long-time volunteers who regularly engage in such projects assisted the novices in their efforts to help those in need. Most of the projects were in some way or another connected with providing assistance to children: organizing festivities at summer camps, cleaning up the territories of children’s institutions as well as arranging excursions for children. In following with tradition, volunteers also organized projects to improve the facilities of nursing homes for the elderly, which concluded with tea parties with the residents. Citi Country Officer for Russia and Citi Division Head for Central and Eastern Europe Zdenek Turek held a special master class in St. Petersburg. He shared his knowledge and experience with the graduates of the Citi-sponsored course “Project Management for Social Entrepreneurs” at the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University. Following the master class, Zdenek Turek presented the graduates with diplomas and congratulated them on completion of this course, which provides a specialization that is not offered elsewhere in Russia. He also expressed his hope that the popularity of this education program would continue to grow: “Practical skills in the creation and successful realization of business projects addressing acute social problems will help us improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people and subsequently of society as a whole. This is the aim of all our social initiatives, the largest of which is our annual Global Community Day. I am grateful to all our employees who participate in volunteer events both on this day and throughout the entire year.” Citi, the leading global bank, has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions.
