Events are typically open to the public. The featured musicians are Deborah Halstad, Gareth McNichol-Briggs, the Neckties and Reconcile. The concert includes styles from folk, pop, rock, and a bit of comedic commentary. The final concerts in the Summer Sounds series are July 17 and 24. Admission is $4 for students and $5 for adults. BACK TO TOP Doctoral examination set for Hanna Rue The final examination for Hanna Rue, a candidate for the Ph.D. degree with a major in Clinical Psychology, is set for 9 a.m. July 11, in 210 Corwin-Larimore Hall. The dissertation title is "Teaching Educators Functional Assessment Procedures." Alan King (Psychology) is the committee chair. BACK TO TOP Summer Graduation Expo set for July 11 The Summer Grad Expo will be held July 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the main floor of the Memorial Union. A visit to the Expo will be a one-stop information source for students graduating Aug. 4. Additional information about UND's Graduate School, photographers, and catering will also be available. Faculty are invited to attend and check out custom regalia that can be ordered through the Barnes & Noble UND Bookstore. The dissertation title is "Professional Development Needs of Student Affairs Professionals Within the North Dakota University System." Angela Koppang (Educational Leadership) is the committee chair. BACK TO TOP Betty Gard retirement reception set for July 11 The staff of the Chester Fritz Library invites you to a reception honoring Betty Gard in the Library’s East Asian Room from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 11. She is retiring after serving the University for three and one half decades. While at UND, she has served as documents librarian, bibliographer, reference librarian and library administrator. She has overseen the activities of the reference department, which is recognized for its commitment to quality service. In addition to her work at UND, she has been very active in state and national professional associations. In recognition of her professional service, the North Dakota Library Association named Gard the Librarian of the Year in 2002. The American Library Association also has benefited greatly from her participation on many division and section committees, and her leadership skills have been recognized with appointments to chair positions on numerous committees. She has served as state representative to the American Library Association Council for two terms. Those who know Betty will attest to her many talents. She has been a frequent star of dramatic and musical productions in Grand Forks Community Theater. Her credits also include roles in independent films. Betty is moving to Seattle, Wash., where she will be closer to her children. He is retiring after more than 25 years of service at UND. Please come and wish him well.
