Rules and Regulations

1. All exhibits, except horses, must have been grown or made by exhibitor. 2. The name, age and breed of any stock, so far as is known, must be supplied to the Secretary with the entry, together with explicit instructions as to Class and Section for which entry is intended. 3. No person will be permitted to exhibit unless his membership fee or entrance fee has been paid beforehand. This rule will be strictly adhered to. 4. A ticket for each exhibit, properly numbered, will be made available by the Secretary to the exhibitor on or before the day of the Show, and must be fixed to the exhibit. No exhibit will be admitted or judged unless it has such ticket affixed, with the exception of Arena Events where exhibit cards will not be issued. 5. If in the opinion of the Committee any prizes have been awarded to an exhibit which does not comply with the intention of the prize offered, the Committee may disqualify such exhibit. 6. Judges will have the power to withhold any prize if they deem undeserving. 7. Protests must be made in writing before 6pm on the day of the Show accompanied in each case by a fee of $50.00 such fee to be forfeited if the protest be deemed frivolous.

3 8. Any person making fraudulent or erroneous entries or statements regarding their exhibits, or guilty or offensive conduct to: (a) expulsion from ground; (b) disqualification for any period; (c) forfeiture of any prize money; (d) if he/she be a member, expulsion from the Society according to the pleasure of the Committee. 9. Contravention of any of the regulations published in this prize list shall render the person contravening same liable to: (a) expulsion from the ground; (b) disqualification for any period; (c) forfeiture of any prize money; (d) if he/she be a member, expulsion from the Society according to the pleasure of the Commitee. 10. Special regulations for Hall: In order to secure to exhibitors the return of their exhibits, duplicate tickets will be issued for all exhibits in the hall. The hall will be cleared at 4.00pm, and persons engaged for the purpose will hand exhibits to those presenting duplicate tickets. 11. Prize Cards: First, Blue; Second, Red; Third, Green; Champion, Gold. 12. In the event of a Tie in any Aggregate Prize, the prize to go to the exhibitor with the most First Prizes. 13. Every care will be taken for all exhibits but the Society accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to any exhibit. 14. The Society will not be responsible for any accident that may be caused through, or by any exhibit, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall not hold the Society responsible, and shall indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising from such accident. 15. Random swabbing of horses may take place under Equestrian Australia Anti-Doping Regulations. As per Equestrian Australia National Medication Control rules. A $3 swabbing levy will be payable per horse.

By completing an exhibitors entry form you will be supplying the Stawell Agricultural Society Inc. with “personal information” (things like your name, address, phone number, email address etc.) Without this information we will not be able to administer your entry in the 2017 Stawell Show. We collect this information for the purpose of administering the Show. This includes: • Processing your entry; • Managing your entry in the relevant event; • Awarding prizes in the relevant event; • Assessing your compliance with the general regulations and conditions of entry, as well as other standards expected of participants in the Show; • Assessing any protests or appeals you might make. We also collect this information for purposes related to the administration of the Show, including: • Publication of winners’ details; • Maintenance of information relevant to qualifications for other events; • Maintenance of records of incidents or accidents that occur at the Show; • Providing insurance for you during the Show, where applicable; • Making a claim on our insurance in relation to any incident or accidents in connection with the Show; • Passing your information to the Agricultural Societies Ass. 5 SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR EXHIBITORS 1. DUTY OF CARE All competitors have a “Duty of Care” to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations that could lead to injury. This “Duty of Care” extends to the prevention of damage of property. 2. DIRECTION OF STAWELL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY INC. Competitors must comply with any reasonable request of Stawell Agricultural Society Inc representatives. 3. EMERGENCY INFORMATION Emergency information and maps showing Emergency Assembly Points are located in the various animal pavilions and buildings. Competitors should be familiar with these plans. 4. FIRST AID During the Stawell Show, qualified First Aid Services are employed. 5. STAWELL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY INC. EMERGENCY FACILITIES Fire fighting and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to Administration immediately. 6. HAZARD & INCIDENT REPORTING Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or Administration immediately of any hazards detected or incidents. Hazards or incidents are any situation that could result or has resulted in: (a) The injury, illness or death of any person or animal (b) The damage, destruction or loss of property 7. WASTE DISPOSAL All waste, including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of waste. 8. HOUSEKEEPING All areas must be kept in clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided. 9. SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS Care must be taken to minimise trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walk ways or roads. 10. MEDIA COMMENTS Media comment about matters involving Stawell Agricultural Society Inc. or the Showgrounds is coordinated by the Administrator. 11. SMOKING Smoking is not permitted inside buildings, within 10 metres of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials. 12. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT a. Competitors should supply their own “Safety Switch” (RCD) for installation at each power outlet they use. b. Extension cords must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated. Appliances must be in a sound working order. c. The use of double adapters is strictly prohibited. Power boards must be fitted with current overload protection. d. Radiant electric or gas heaters are prohibited. e. Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose than for lighting. f. AIMS OF THE RURAL AMBASSADOR AWARD • To highlight the talent, creativity and ingenuity of young Victorian residents and in doing so encourage entrants to be role models across local communities. • To encourage and reward enthusiastic, skillful and industrious young people who are actively involved in their communities. • To assist all entrants through their participation to develop strong communication and leadership qualities. • To enable the applicant to gain greater proficiency in their chosen field and also to develop the applicant’s stature and reputation.

General conditions of entry: • Apply, complete and sign the official entry form. • Entrants must be aged over 20yrs and under 30yrs as at 1st May 2018. • Be prepared to spend required time at Local Show, Group Level Finals and the State Final. State winner will represent Victoria at Nationals. • The award is open to both males and females.

Judging Criteria: • Community and Local Show involvement - 40 points • Rural and General Knowledge - 20 points • Personality - 10 points • Ambitions/Goals - 10 points • Communication skills - 10 points • Style, grooming and deportment - 10 points • Public Presentation - 20 points

Prizes Certificates will be given to winners at local agricultural shows. Regional winners receive a VASL Trophy and prizemoney. The State Final winner will receive a cash prize for personal or educational development.

HORSE SHOW This Society is affiliated with E.V. and the Show will be conducted strictly under the current E.A rules.

• A limited number of overnight stables are available for $20.00 each. Boxes must be reserved and paid for at the time of lodging entries. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified if stalls are already allocated. To book boxes – telephone 03 53581222. Booking will be confirmed on receipt of entries and payment. Competitors using the boxes for overnight accommodation must vacate same and leave them in a clean condition ($10.00 refund on inspection) by 7.30am on the morning of the Show. • No un-restrained Dogs.

IMPORTANT NOTICES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR ALL HORSE EXHIBITORS

• All horse, owner and rider/handler details need to be filled in on the entry form. One form per horse/rider combination. A waiver needs to be signed by all participants before competing. • All Riders must wear protective head gear to the current Australian, European or American Standard. The retaining harness must be secured and fastened at all times. Riders without approved headgear shall be ineligible to compete until rectified. This rule applies to all events, not just under age competition. • Colts and Stallions will only be permitted to compete in show jumping and the horsemanship challenge. They must be bitted and handlers to be over 18 years of age. • LUNGING - Lunging of horses may take place in Rings 1, 2, 3 prior to 9.00 am when all lunging must cease. • WARMING UP - An area is allocated for riding/leading your horses on the south/west side of the arena. • Horses must be WALKED whilst moving between Rings. • Competitors must pay Show Gate Admission Fee in addition to Entry Fees. • For further explanation of course please go to Facebook – STAWELL SHOW • All competitors enter at their own risk with no responsibility accepted by the organizing committee for riders, livestock or property. Personal insurance for riders and handlers recommended • Random Swabbing and horse registration checks may take place at any time. A $3.00 swabbing fee per horse is to be paid by all entrants. Fees to be held by WASA in a special fund for the continuation of Random Annual Swabbing at all Wimmera Shows. • Medication Control of horses may take place with the Equestrian Australia Equine Anti- doping and Controlled Medication Regulations (1st edition effective 5th April 2010 and updates) and the Equestrian Australia Medication Control System and Swabbing policy (1st January 2015).

12 Ponies, Galloways and Hacks Entry Fees: All events $5 on day of show Early entry fee of $3 per event (entries in 1 week before show) A $3 swabbing fee applies per horse. A $25 membership allows Gate Entry for two adults and any children under 16. (Gate price Adults $10, Und.16 $5, Pens. $5)

• All Champions and Reserve Champions will be eligible for Royal Shows, V.A.S.A. Saddle Horse Championship, Show Horse Council of Victoria and Barastoc Horse of the Year Show. • Champion and Reserve Sashes will be presented by the Ring Steward at the conclusion of each event. All exhibits to be measured prior to competing and measurement cards must be presented on request. 2016 R.A.S.V. Cards accepted. • NOVICE: Competitors - are those which have not won a first prize at any agricultural show. • Winners of Championships in Ring 1 may not compete in Ring 2 in similar events from which they went on to become Champion. • Winners of Championships in Ring 2 may not compete in Ring 1 in similar events from which they went on to become Champion. • Horses may not compete in both Hack and Hunter classes. Show Hunters have more substance than the modern hack but still maintain quality. They are expected to move freely at all paces, and may be asked by the Judge to gallop. Their turnout is more subdued than for the usual show class, with no coloured browbands, flowers or bright colours on riders.

STAWELL REGIONAL HEALTH is sponsoring 2 awards to encourage young riders. This will be presented at the end of the day and at the judge’s joint discretion. Horsemanship Challenge. Conditions of Entry • Please read general conditions of entry above. • The Challenge is open to all horses, all breeds. • The Committee reserves the right to alter the program without notice. • All competitors are to participate with the spirit of goodwill and the Judge’s decision will be final. Discussion of scores or individual’s performance is at the judge’s discretion. 13 • To be eligible for the Champion, all sections are to be competed as a combination e.g. 1 horse and 1 rider and an attempt must be made in all sections of the program as set by the committee. • Any abuse, including inappropriate language, towards animals or people will result in disqualification and offender will be asked to leave the grounds. • No alcohol to be consumed whilst competing or prior to completion of the day’s events. Riding under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated. • Any horse showing indications of being unsound will be excused from competition. • The handler of any horse considered to be acting in a dangerous manner will be warned by the committee in the first instance and then disqualified if it continues to actina dangerous manner. • Competitors may enter more than one horse, but must enter all horses at the same level of competition. If entries are exceedingly high, a restriction may apply, each additional horse will be charged full entry fee. • Second competitor on same horse incurs 5 points penalty. • An Open rider is any age and has won a Ladies, Intermediate or Novice Challenge previously. • A Novice rider is any age and has not won a Novice or Junior Challenge previously. • Riders competing in the Junior section must be 15 years or younger at the start of the competition and may not have won two Junior Challenges previously. • Expected dress code for entire program: collared shirt with sleeves, moleskins, jeans or jodhpurs will be accepted. • No head checks, tie downs, martingales, running reins, nose bands, bosals, halters or riding whips will be allowed. Snaffle bits only to be used – no curb chains. • The same saddlery must be used for all sections of the event, leg protection for horses and spurs at rider discretion. • CAMPING - Please BYO Horse Yards etc. for camping overnight at the Stawell Show. Toilets are available.

ENTRIES TO Email entries and a copy of JD & CAE testing identifying individual goats by name or tag number to the Victorian Show Secretary - [email protected] All original entry forms, paperwork and fees (if not previously paid) MUST be handed in to the steward for each goat entered at least half an hour before advertised start time on the day of show. Animals without forms submitted and fees paid on the day will not be eligible to show.

ENTRY FEES $2.50 per class per class. NO REFUNDS ALLOWED Studs with emailed or faxed entries will still be responsible to pay outstanding entry fees if not attending show. A $10 nomination fee to accompany entries per show for competitors that do not hold MGBA membership.

ELIGIBILITY MGBA Breed shows are open to members and non-members This show is open to all registered Australian Miniature, Nuwby, Nigerian Dwarf, Pygmy Goats holding current and up to date registration with any group Australia wide. Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf Goats must be registered with DNA, or have DNA pending. Animals must be owned or leased by competitor. Animals must only be shown in the breed registered on registration certificate. MGBA rules and regulations apply to goats at ALL shows including DNA, ear tagging requirements where applicable. (a) Animals registered with the MGBA to produce a copy of registration certificate on the day with show entry form or presented before show to be eligible to participate in Breed Classes. b) Animals not registered with the MGBA must have registration certificates emailed/posted in with entries to be eligible to participate in Breed Classes. Competitor participation in events is at the MGBA discretion and non-members will be required to agree to the MGBA code of sportsmanship when submitting entries. Those not abiding by MGBA rules will be removed from show and any wins forfeited. All MGBA rules and regulations apply to shows. It is the competitor’s responsibility to follow all DPI and governing bodies’ state rules and requirements for tick, and disease as well as movement of goats between states and to and from MGBA shows.

34 TESTED SHOW REQUIREMENTS 1. All animals entered that are over 12months must have tested clear for CAE and Johnes Disease in the past 12months. 2. Animals entered that are under 12months must supply a clear test for CAE and Johnes Disease from their sire & dam in the 12 months prior to the show. 3. Pygmy & Nigerian Dwarf goats under 12 months as a result from an AI procedure must supply a clear test for CAE and Johnes Disease from their dam. A copy of the test results showing the animals by name or ear tag must accompany the entry form.

SIGN IN AND JUDGING Sign In: 9.30-10am Judging commences 11.00 am

EXHIBITS MGBAA and RASVRASQ Rules and Regulations apply. Full Show Rules are a supplement to this schedule and can be found on the Miniature Goat Breeders Association Website http:// www.miniaturegoatbreedersassociation.com.au MGBAA Inc Breed Standards, Heights and Regulations will govern breed related issues IN ALL CASES. All Animals must be measured in prior to the commencement of judging and are to be brought up to the measuring station as directed by the steward. Animals not measured will not be permitted to show. Animals must have NLIS ear tag in place and Identification must be confirmed prior to commencement of judging. Animals should be good breed examples and must NOT have horns. All animals must be in healthy condition, free of ticks, lice and visible signs of disease or health problems. It is desirable that goats have been vaccinated. Exhibitors and handlers are to conduct themselves in an exemplary manor at all times. Abusive, disruptive or unsportsmanlike behaviour will result in the exhibitor/handler being excused from the ring, forfeiture of fees/prizes/awards & disqualification from competing in further classes. Please also see MGBA code of sportsmanship that forms part of your membership http://www.miniaturegoatbreedersassociation.com.au/codeofsportsmanship. htm It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to provide adequate food and fresh water for their animals for the duration of the show. It is condition of entry that Champion, Reserve Champion, Best of Breed and Best In Show exhibits stand to be photographed, at the show under the direction of the steward, for recording & promotion of show results. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of exhibit, award/s being permanently removed & forfeiture of entry fees. Photos & results of classes / animals will be published as the Show Society/MGBAA require. Any photo taken at the show may be used by the MGBAA for future promotions

CONDITION OF PARTICIPATION Separation to prevent movement of faeces or contaminated food, water or bedding. Adequate supervision of animals at the venue. Restrict animals to designated area by tethering or penning when not being led. Prompt removal of faecal material- regularly removed to no access plastic lined bins. This is particularly important in laneways and judging areas. Equipment must be cleaned regularly and stored at or in a bin. (Responsibility of each stud to clean up after themselves). Sick goats not permitted on grounds. In interpreting the show/event regulations, any decision made by the show committee/ manager is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

BREED ITEMS Animals are only eligible to enter in one breed type as listed on their registration, please ensure that the breed is indicated on the entry form.

INSURANCE All exhibitors/participants are responsible for arranging their own public liability insurance and other insurances. This Association or any of its representatives will not under any circumstances hold itself/themselves liable for any accident, loss or damage and it shall be a condition of entry/participation that each exhibitor/participant shall hold MGBAA and anyone associated with the organisation/conduct of event, blameless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising through any accident, loss, non-delivery or damage whatsoever. 35 REMOVAL OF EXHIBITS It is a condition of entry that EXHIBITS may not be removed before the designated time as stated in this show schedule.

52 36. RICH FRUIT CAKE - Recipe: (WASA) (VAS.) Sponsored by Ward McKenzie, Here’s what you need: 375g Mixed Fruit 2 eggs lightly beaten ¾ cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons marmalade 1 teaspoon mixed spice 1 cup self raising flour ½ cup water 1 cup plain flour 125g butter ¼ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon bicarbonate soda ½ cup sherry Here’s what you do: Mix together all the fruits and nuts and sprinkle with the sherry or brandy. Cover and leave for at least 1 hour, but preferably overnight. Sift together the flours and spices. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then alternately add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. Place the mixture into a prepared tin 20cm square - straight sided square cornered tin and bake in a slow oven for approximately 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Allow the cake to cool in the tin - Display on white board or solid white plate. NOTE: To ensure uniformity and depending upon the size, it is suggested the raisins be snipped into 2 or 3 pieces, cherries 4-6 pieces and almonds crosswise into 3-4 pieces. WASA VAS Carrot and Date Muffins Competition A competition for junior cake bakers under 18 on the day of their local show

INGREDIENTS: 2 1/2 cups Self-raising flour 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed) 1/3 cup pitted dates- chopped 1 cup coarsely grated carrot 1 tablespoon orange marmalade 1 cup canola oil 3/4 cup orange juice 1 cup reduced fat milk 2 eggs, lightly beaten METHOD: 1. Heat oven to 190C (moderately hot) 2. Line a 12 hole muffin pan with classic white muffin cases (35mm high and 90mm wide 50mm base) 3. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl; stir in dates, carrots. Then add the combined marmalade, oil, eggs, juice and milk. Mix until just combined 4. Spoon mixture evenly into muffin paper cases in muffin pan. 5. Cook for 20 minutes. To test if muffins are cooked insert cake skewer; if it comes out clean the muffins are ready 6. Stand muffins in pan for 5 minutes before removing to cool. Show entries: Four (4) muffins per plate. Sponsored by Ward McKenzie Recipe: Ingredients 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons marmalade 1 teaspoon mixed spice 1 cup self-raising flour 1/2 cup water 1 cup plain flour 125g butter 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1/2 cup sherry Method: Place the Mixed Fruit, sugar, spice, water and butter in a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer gently for 3 minutes, remove from stove, add bicarbonate soda and allow to cool. Add the sherry, eggs and marmalade, mixing well. Fold in the sifted dry ingredients then place in a greased and lined 20cm round cake tin. Bake in a moderately slow oven for 1 1/2 hours, or until cooked when tested. First prize $5.00 WASA.
