This includes the design, development and delivery of IT infrastructure for new-builds, new business/clinical services and new IT systems/applications. You will lead a team focused on these objectives and work alongside peers delivering operational infrastructure services, network infrastructure, applications support, applications/business strategy and major new application implementations. Examples of areas of work include planning for the major new hospital builds in South Glasgow to reducing costs and improving services through consolidation of diverse legacy technologies. You will be educated to Masters degree level in Computer Science or Engineering or with the equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience. You will have substantial experience in very large-scale infrastructure environments covering operational services, programme delivery, defining strategy and architecture and successfully managing large scale infrastructure developments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work with all levels of staff, partner organisations and suppliers. You will have substantial experience of aligning IT infrastructure strategy with business priorities and communicating with non-IT audiences. Experience in transforming and integrating previously disparate IT infrastructures is highly desirable, as is a broad understanding across an array of infrastructure technologies. A new single Health Information & Technology (HI&T) organisation is being created at the same time as NHSGGC is undergoing one of the largest transformations in the history of the NHS. One of its key objectives is to create information and IT infrastructure capable of integrating Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Providing effective management of defined area-wide clinical systems, your key priority will be to manage new technology, service delivery or upgrade projects. Acting as Technical Team Lead in clinical and service projects with a significant IT element, you will advise and direct 3rd Party Suppliers as required for systems or applications under your responsibility and ensure effective communication channels are established and maintained with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be a confident communicator and skilled negotiator with extensive practical experience in the analysis, specification, development and implementation of information systems within a complex environment. With demonstrable specialist knowledge of technical aspects of both systems and operational environments, you will be experienced in an application support function, with proven ability of leading or managing staff groups that have diverse skills and abilities. You will be educated to Degree or Diploma level in a relevant discipline, or evidence the equivalent skill level required for the role gained through practical experience. Specialist knowledge of technical aspects of systems; hardware, database, software and hardware integration environments and associated knowledge of legislation, best practices and procedures surrounding IT is essential. Additional qualifications in ITIL Service Foundation and experience of ELMP, Six Sigma or Prince are highly desirable.
