HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 is here, and so far, we have seen a record setting United States Senate runoff election in that resulted in the state’s first Black and Jewish Senate victories, an insurrection of domestic terrorists at the U.S. Capitol, and the first, second impeachment of a U.S. President. Wow, and there’s still more

January to go!

But come Monday, January 18, an observance of the preeminent Civil Rights Icon whose legacy to heal a nation in turmoil, still lives on. Although the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is January 15, there will be observances and calls for service on his birthday and continuing throughout the weekend and month, all around the nation and the world.

We invite you to join us, as Jazz 91.9 WCLK will pay special tribute to MLK with the FOX 5 ’s live broadcast of the 53rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Com- memorative Service, part virtual and part live at the historic Ebenezer Baptist

Church. The simulcast takes place on January 18 from 10:30 A until 1:45 P.

This Saturday, January 16, from 6:30 P until 7:30 P, EST, the Broward County Public Library in Florida will present the Life and Thought of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a Climate of Change. Register at bit.ly/3bei9q1.

Now, volunteer registration for the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, Hosea Helps, Martin Luther King Junior Day drive thru event is open. The event will take place on Monday, January 18 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building B in Atlanta. For more MLK festivities, click here.

Then, on Wednesday, January 20, the Inauguration of the 46th President to the United States Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. No doubt, the month is already one for the history books. But no matter the political climate, you’ll find your musical appetite can always be satisfied right here on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, each and every day. Here’s to things getting better in the New Year!
