DESCRIPTIVE REPORT OF REGULAR ACTIVITES OF NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16

NSS activities for the year 2015-16 began from the first week of July 2015. Enrolment of NSS continued till the end of August, 2015. Principal Dr.M.Z.Farooqui inaugurated the NSS activities on 1st August 2015. University of Mumbai had allotted strength of 200 volunteers to our college. Programme Officers: Mr. Paul R P. Associate Professor of Economics, Ms. Shweta Pandey, Asst. Professor of Economics and Mr. Pradnyesh Waghmare, Asst. Professor of Physics were the Programme Officers for academic year 2015-16.

Student Secretary: Mr. Nilesh Kanoujia, TYBCom, and Ms. Simeen Jogilkar, SYBSc (CS), were selected as the Student Secretary of NSS for the year. 10 active volunteers were selected as the Group Leaders.

Adopted Area: Most of the community programmes were conducted in Khar Danda and Ambedkar Road, Mumbai. Details of the programmes at the community level, college level and university level are given below.

Orientation Programme: On 6th July, 2015 orientation programme was organized. Principal was invited for the event. Programme officer, Prof. Paul R. P. (Ex Area Coordinator, NSS, (West Region) had shown a 1 NSS Unit, Rizvi College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Bandra (W), Mumbai 400 050.

Power Point presentation, highlighting the regular activities and the residential camp. 200 NSS Volunteers participated in the event.

Tree plantation: Tree Plantation was part of our University Level Project. It was held from 21st July, 2015. 27 boys and 13 NSS girls’ volunteers participated in the event. 100 saplings of Neem, Banyan, Peepal and Mango were planted at Netali Village, Manor, Palghar. All our core committee members also participated in the event.

Session on Dengue and Malaria: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 2nd July, 2015. Our 136 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers, BMC officials and staff participated in the session.

Session on Drug Abuse: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 9th July, 2015. Our 108 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Street Play on Drug Abuse: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 6th August, 2015. Our 28 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Street Play on Effect of Alcohol on Youth: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 20th August, 2015. Our 23 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Poster Competition on Personal Hygiene: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 10th September, 2015. Our 35 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Lecture and Check Up Drive on Skin and Hair Care: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 19th November, 2015. Our 113 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Street Play on HIV/AIDS: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 1st December, 2015. Our 73 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Elocution Competition, Debate on HIV/AIDS: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was organized on 3rd December, 2015 by RRC. 49 volunteers participated in the event.

Poster Competition, on HIV/AIDS: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was organized on 10th December, 2015 by RRC. 36 volunteers participated in the event.

Slogan Writing Competition on HIV/AIDS: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was organized on 1st December, 2015. 16 volunteers participated in the event.

Rally on Cancer: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. This rally was part of our Area Based Activity - I i.e. Health Awareness. A rally on cancer on 21st January, 2016 from community area to college. 87 volunteers participated in the rally.

Save Electricity Project: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – II i.e. Environment Awareness. It was undertaken for the period of August, 2015 to January, 2016. Initially under this project each volunteer adopted seven households and conducted the survey regarding the electricity bills and made aware them of the power shortage in the nation and consequences of using making excessive usage on supply of electricity and environment. After the survey and talk they visited the respective households every month to assess the impact of talk. After the end of the project volunteers prepared the reports and submitted to the NSS Unit of the College. Due to this initiative 2011 units of electricity could be saved.

Making and Distribution of Paper Bags and Note-Books: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – II i.e. Environment Awareness. Our 104 volunteers, from August, 2015 to January 2016 made more than 5000 paper bags and 983 note books in college the campus. Paper bags were distributed to shopkeepers, vegetable and fish vendors and notebooks were distributed to BMC School of our community on 16th January, 2016. 72 volunteers participated in the event.

Street Play on Say No To Plastic: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – II i.e. Environment Awareness. Our 49 volunteers participated in the event. Play held at Ambedkar Road on 28th November, 2015.

Street Play on Save Water: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – II i.e. Environment Awareness. Our 54 volunteers participated in the event. Play held at Khar Danda on 9th January, 2016.

Women Issues: This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – III i.e. Women Issues. Our 129 volunteers from August, 2015 to January, 2016 participated in this project. Under this project we held various activities which are as under: a) Lecture on Women and Domestic Violence: 2nd July,2015 b) Street Play on Women and Education : 9th July,2015 c) Poster Competition and Exhibition on Women Empowerment : 10th September,2015 3 NSS Unit, Rizvi College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Bandra (W), Mumbai 400 050.

d) Exhibition on Role of Women in Indian Economy: 10th September,2015 e) Quiz Competition on Role of Women in Indian Politics: 10th December,2015 f) Elocution Competition on Gender Issues: 7th January,2015

Orientation Programme: It was College level Activity. All the volunteers, Programme officers and Principal participated in the event in the college seminar room on 6th July, 2015.

Free Mega Health Check Up Drive and Blood Donation: It was College level Activity. It included Complete Free Mega Health Check Up i.e. Oral, Dental, BMI, CBC, ECG, Eye, Foot Care, Calcium and Thallasemia and Blood Donation. 190 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the drive in the college auditorium on 6th August, 2015. The total number of beneficiaries was 327.

Independence Day: It was College level Activity. All the volunteers and Programme officers participated in the flags hosting ceremony in the college campus on 15th August, 2015.

Poster Competition on Women Issues: It was College level Activity. 39 volunteers participated in the event in the college auditorium on 24th August, 2015.

Senior Citizen Survey: It was College level Activity. 89 volunteers participated in the event which was held with Khar Police Station Staff. The event took place on 15th and 16th September, 2015 in the Bandra (West).

Constitution Day Celebration: It was College level Activity. 87 volunteers participated in the event in the college auditorium on 26th November, 2015.

Republic Day Celebration: It was College level Activity. 62 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the flags hosting ceremony in the college campus on 26th January, 2016.

Swachh Bharat Mission: It was University Level Project. 142 Volunteers participated in this project. The details of the activities are as follows: a) Swachhata Oath: 23rd July, 2015 b) Campus Cleaning: 23rd July, 2015 c) Poster Competition: 8th August,2015 d) Street Competition on ‘Mera Bharat Clean Bharat’ on 12th August,2015 e) Rally: On 2nd October,2015 from Churchgate Station to Gate Way of

It was University Level Project. 129 Volunteers participated in this project. The details of the activities are as follows: a) Street Play: At College Campus, Khar Station, Bandra Station, Khar Danda, Ambedkar Road, Carter Road, Hill Road and S.V.Road on 5th and 12th August, 2015. b) Manning of S.V.Road Traffic with Bandra RTO for one week. c) Poster and Slogan Writing Competition: 30th November, 2015. d) Exhibition of Posters at Bandra RTO and College Auditorium

Training: Mr. Pradnyesh Waghmare successfully completed his training of Programme Officers at Ahmednagar, . Mr. Waseem Khan and Ms. Yogeeta Rajput attended their Leadership Training Programme at Vidyanagari, Kalina, University of Mumbai.

DESCRIPTIVE REPORT OF SPECIAL SEVEN DAY CAMP (RESIDENTIAL) OF NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16 The Special Seven Day (Residential) Camp held at Yusuf Meher Ali Center Taluka: Tara, Dist. Raigad, and Maharashtra from 14.10.2015 to 20.10.2015. 62 volunteers and three programme officers participated in this Camp.

During the camping duration various programmes were held for the personality development of the volunteers. Our students were involved in ‘Shramdhan’ i.e. Cleaning the camp site, Bapu Kuti and Baa Kuti, Wall Painting actively during the programme. Yoga Sessions held by Mr. Devidas Patil on all six days of the camp.

Dr. S.R.Kanhekar, NSS District Coordinator, Raigad along with his colleague Mr. Salavi visited the camp on 18th October, 2015 and encouraged the volunteers and programme officers for their work and efforts by his appreciating words.

HIV/AIDS: A Social Taboo This activity was the part of our Area Based Activity – I i.e. Health Awareness. It was conducted on 10th December, 2016. Our 148 NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and staff participated in the session.

Area Based Activity – II (Environment Awareness)

College Level Activity:

Orientation Programme: It was College level Activity. All the volunteers, Programme officers and Principal participated in the event in the college seminar room on 6th July, 2016. 200 volunteers participated in the event.

National Park Visit: It was College level Activity. 52 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the visit for sensitizing the volunteers for environment.

Independence Day: It was College level Activity. All the volunteers and Programme officers participated in the flags hosting ceremony in the college campus on 15th August, 2016.

Teacher’s Day Celebration (5/9/2016): It was a college level activity. Cultural activities were organized by NSS volunteers for teachers. 79 volunteers participated in the celebration.

Ganesh Visarjan With Bandra RTO (5th September, 2016 to 16th September, 2016): It was College level Activity. 72 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the event from 5th September, 2016 to 16th September, 2016.

NSS Day: It was College level Activity. 129 volunteers participated in the event in the college auditorium on 24th September, 2016.

Voter Registration Drive (30/09/2017 to 10/10/2017) for BMC Elections: It was College level Activity. 89 volunteers participated in the event which was held with Election Officials (Collector’s Office, Bandra West). The event took place from 30/09/2017 to 10/10/2017.

Constitution Day Celebration (26/11/2016): It was College level Activity.108 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the event.

Republic Day Celebration: It was College level Activity. 107 volunteers and Programme officers participated in the flags hosting ceremony in the college campus on 26th January, 2017.

Swachh Bharat Mission: It was University Level Project. 147 Volunteers participated in this project. The details of the activities are as follows: f) Campus Cleaning: 23rd July, 2016 g) Poster Competition: 5th August,2016 h) Cleaning Dive: 12th August, 2016 Sea Shore, Carter Road i) Rally: 2nd October,2016 from Churchgate Station to Gate Way of India j) Rally: 8th December,2016 College Campus to Hanuman Mandir, Khar Danda

Road Safety: It was University Level Project. 129 Volunteers participated in this project. The details of the activities are as follows: e) Street Play: At College Campus, Khar Station, Bandra Station, Khar Danda, Ambedkar Road, Carter Road, Hill Road and S.V.Road on 13th November, 2016. f) Manning of S.V.Road Traffic with Bandra RTO for one week. g) Poster and Slogan Writing Competition: 30th November, 2016. h) Exhibition of Posters at Bandra RTO and College Auditorium

International Yoga Day (18/07/2016 to 21/07/2016) It was University Level Project. 122 Volunteers participated in this project. Yoga Training was given to NSS and Non NSS students for three days, which was concluded on 21/07/2016S by celebrating International Yoga Day in the college Auditorium.

Mr. Pradnyesh Waghmare successfully completed his training of Programme Officers at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Mr. Nilesh Kanoujia and Mr. Pitam Mondal attended their Leadership Training Programme at Vidyanagari, Kalina, and University of Mumbai.

Best volunteers: Following volunteers were nominated as the best NSS volunteers of the college for the academic year, 2015-16. 6. Mr. Rahul Gupta : Best student coordinator and Leader 7. DESCRIPTIVE REPORT OF SPECIAL SEVEN DAY CAMP (RESIDENTIAL) OF NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17 The Special Seven Day (Residential) Camp held at Khanav Village, Post, Khalapur, Taluka: Khopoli, Dist. Raigad, and Maharashtra from 17.01.2017 to 23.01.2017. 104 volunteers and three programme officers participated in this Camp.

During the camping duration various programmes were held for the personality development of the volunteers. Our students were involved in ‘Shramdhan’ i.e. Cleaning the camp site, Bapu Kuti village, well cleaning, road construction and maintenance Wall Painting actively during the programme. Yoga Sessions and Physical Exercise were held by Dr. Meenakshi Samant and Mr. Nilesh Kanoujia on all six days of the camp.

Prof. Paul.R.P., Ex. NSS Area Coordinator, Mumbai Western Suburban Area along with his one of the students visited the camp on 15th January, 2017 and encouraged the volunteers and programme officers for their work and efforts by his appreciating words.
