See It Big! Action Features More Than 30 Action Movie Favorites on the Big
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ‘SEE IT BIG! ACTION’ FEATURES MORE THAN 30 ACTION MOVIE FAVORITES ON THE BIG SCREEN April 19–July 7, 2019 Astoria, New York, April 16, 2019—Museum of the Moving Image presents See It Big! Action, a major screening series featuring more than 30 action films, from April 19 through July 7, 2019. Programmed by Curator of Film Eric Hynes and Reverse Shot editors Jeff Reichert and Michael Koresky, the series opens with cinematic swashbucklers and continues with movies from around the world featuring white- knuckle chase sequences and thrilling stuntwork. It highlights work from some of the form's greatest practitioners, including John Woo, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Akira Kurosawa, Kathryn Bigelow, Jackie Chan, and much more. As the curators note, “In a sense, all movies are ’action’ movies; cinema is movement and light, after all. Since nearly the very beginning, spectacle and stunt work have been essential parts of the form. There is nothing quite like watching physical feats, pulse-pounding drama, and epic confrontations on a large screen alongside other astonished moviegoers. See It Big! Action offers up some of our favorites of the genre.” In all, 32 films will be shown, many of them in 35mm prints. Among the highlights are two classic Technicolor swashbucklers, Michael Curtiz’s The Adventures of Robin Hood and Jacques Tourneur’s Anne of the Indies (April 20); Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (April 21); back-to-back screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road and Aliens on Mother’s Day (May 12); all six Mission: Impossible films -

BAHAMAS: the Love Boat's New Chocolate Voyage 02/12/2016
2/12/2016 BAHAMAS: The Love Boat’s New Chocolate Voyage : Holiday Goddess, Travel for Less BAHAMAS: The Love Boat’s New Chocolate Voyage By Vicki Arkoff Categories Caribbean Islands, Cruises, Destinations, Florida, Food and drink, Ft. Lauderdale, The Bahamas All aboard for the sweet life with Princess Cruises’ new cocoa temptations. Regal Princess Hurricane season aside, the balmy Caribbean is always enticing, especially during the throes of a chilly USA winter. But Princess Cruises really knocked my thermal socks off when I boarded their newest ship, the huge 3,600passenger Regal Princess, to embark on the maiden voyage of the dramatically expanded “Chocolate Journeys” program. Yep, it’s all about chocolate, 24/7, and it’s the most expansive gourmet desserts program on the ocean. Impressively, the endeavor is spearheaded by one of the world’s top master chocolatiers, Norman Love, the former Godiva specialty chocolatier whose Norman Love Confections team now produces 55,000 handpainted, gourmet chocolate candies on a daily basis. (Love on the Love Boat. It’s a match made in sweet heaven.) To celebrate Princess Cruise’s 50th anniversary, Norman Love worked with the cruise line to create a new onboard experience that includes premium chocolate offerings for desserts, cocktails, candy making demos, chocolate/wine tastings, turndown service pillow treats, and even spa treatments at the ship’s Lotus Spa. By the end of 2016, it’ll be available throughout the 18ship fleet. http://www.holidaygoddess.guide/destinations/bahamastheloveboatsailstochocolateparadise/ 1/5 2/12/2016 BAHAMAS: The Love Boat’s New Chocolate Voyage : Holiday Goddess, Travel for Less Master Chocolatier Norman Love. -

Democratic and Totalitarian Power Systems in William Golding's Lord
Estetisk-filosofika fakulteten Engelska Jennifer Basile Democratic and Totalitarian Power Systems in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies Engelska C-uppsats Datum: Hösttermin 2006/2007 Handledare: Åke Bergvall Summary One important theme in William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies is power. The boys in Lord of the Flies copy the behavior of their parents: competing, fighting and even killing each other for power. They form two groups, each following a different power system, the democratic system on the one side and the totalitarian system on the other. My aim in this essay is to examine the complexity of these power systems in Lord of the Flies, revealed in the two layers in which they appear in the story, the boys on the island and the adults in their world. Moreover I want to show how Golding contributes both positive and negative traits to both systems, never falling into the habit of giving a black and white picture of either of the power systems. Overall I will focus on two boys, Jack and Ralph, exemplifying through them how the two systems gain their power, develop their structures, which methods they use to keep power, and how the systems handle crisis. At the end of my essay I then will shortly illustrate how Golding connects the adult world and their behavior to the boys’ story. My conclusion is that Golding shows very clearly that the desire for power and the will to fight and kill for it exists in both adults and children. Overall his attempt is to illustrate that it is difficult to have an absolute, perfect and ideal power system. -
Jay Dupuis Live As ELVIS” with the King Creole Orchestra St
Golden Opportunity “Jay Dupuis Live as ELVIS” With the King Creole Orchestra St. John Theatre, Reserve LA December 14, 2019 (Saturday) 7:00 p.m. $32.00 per person (includes ticket and transportation) $25.00 per person (Ticket only) Departure: 5:00 p.m. – Center for Primary Care & Wellness Departure: 5:30 p.m. – Ochsner Kenner Jay was born on the evening of October 18, 1974 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he lived most of his childhood life. Growing up in a house where his father was a professional musician made it very easy for Jay to follow in his dad’s footsteps. It was no surprise that Jay had an ear for music but, at the early age of three, his mom put on a record of Elvis Presley singing ‘Hound Dog’. As he listened, his eyes lit up and his hips started to move as he smiled with excitement. Begging his mom to play it over and over, Jay became a huge fan of the King of Rock ‘n Roll. Shortly after, Jay would put on performances for his parents, family and friends at social gatherings. “I would put on white pants and a white dress shirt to mimic a jumpsuit, flip up my collar, pretend I was the King and put on a show in my parents living room. I was never shy.” When Jay wasn’t imitating Elvis, he was doing extensive studio work, surrounded by professional musicians, or on stage performing in front of live audiences. Elvis has always been one of the biggest influences in his life and entertaining career, he can’t remember a time where he wasn’t an Elvis fan. -
