3 Future Scheme Priorities

3.1 Maidenbower: £113,500 has been received.

3.1.1 It is suggested that the CLC may wish to assign a priority towards an improved Signing Strategy for Crawley, this would allow further work to take place in order that costed schemes can be drawn up and submitted for approval. – Crawley BC has indicated that they would support a contribution towards this project, subject to further consultation once costs are known. Further funding for this project would be sought from development elsewhere in Crawley.

3.2 Northgate:

£627,858 has been received – (this includes the Thales contribution mentioned below)

3.2.1 The sum of £460,500 is available for allocation from the Thales Development ref CR/639/05. The contribution was taken for the following works:

• Real-time information in the relocated eastbound bus stop in Manor Royal. • A new footway/cycleway from Manor Royal to County Oak • Works to A2011 Crawley Avenue consisting of widening works to introduce a flare at the roundabout.

CLC support to progress the above schemes is sought. - Once sufficient work has been done to enable cost estimates to be produced for the above schemes the remainder of the contribution can be allocated.

3.2.2 It is also suggested that the CLC may wish to agree the following additional priorities:

• Measures to improve access to and address issues arising from congestion at Manor Royal Estate. – The schemes that arise from this work will be agreed with the Local Member and CLC chairman as proposals develop.

• It is suggested that the CLC may wish to assign a priority towards an improved Signing Strategy for Crawley, this would allow further work to take place in order that costed schemes can be drawn up and submitted for approval. – Crawley BC has indicated that they would support a contribution towards this project, subject to further consultation once costs are known. Further funding for this project would be sought from development elsewhere in Crawley.

• It is suggested that the CLC may wish to support the allocation of £75,000 towards the £100,000 London Road cycle scheme from Fleming way to Crawley Avenue. This scheme would be part funded by Crawley Borough Council.

• It is suggested that the CLC may wish to support the allocation of £3,500 towards an on-line cycle journey Planner for Crawley. – Sport would match fund this proposal.
