WAGATE PREVENTS ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE IN THE PORT OF YSTAD

Beliggenhed: Ystad, Kunde: Port of Ystad

PROBLEM: The Port of Ystad is the largest port in Sweden with daily services to and . In 2016, the number of passengers using Ystad Hamn exceeded the magical figure of two million after an increase in traffic to both Poland and Bornholm. Cargo volumes and the number of trucks, cars and passengers reached new records, which is very positive for the development of both the Port of Ystad and . Stormwater run-off from the hardstand will go to two new stormwater pipes that will discharge into the sea. In order to prevent environmental damage in the case of an onsite accident, an emergency shut-off valve is required to prevent oil, diesel, gasoline or other dangerous substances from being released into the sea through the stormwater pipes.

LØSNING: An remotely controlled, electric actuated WaGate SVM-TG DN500 Shut-Off valve was chosen for the emergency shut on the stormwater pipes. WaGate SVM-TG is constructed using PEHD and marine grade stainless steel, which prevents corrosion between the materials ensuring low maintenance. Due to the choice of material the valve functions with low friction and is equipped with a self-cleansing pocket. The self-cleansing pockey ensures the seat of the valve is always clean allowing the valve to fully close. The installation of the WaGate shut-off valve ensures the Port meets the regulations and the risk of environmental damage in the event of an accident has been reduced.
