Dear Pinewoods Friends, Thank you so much for being with us at our mom's, Gert Gershowitz, funeral last month. I know many of you who were there were not able to sign the book. We want to thank you for being with us. It gave us great comfort to know that mom and dad's Pinewood's friends were with us! Thank you for your kindness and for your friendship to mom and dad through the years! They loved it! Thanks again,, Lynne and Marc Thank you to the volunteers Marilyn Suffet, Eileen Pentel, Don Wade, and Will Wade- Pentel. We hope to see you at the next Newsletter Mailing. Margaret Murray has been contributing her time and energy as a hotline volunteer for the Met Council on Housing. The organization is in the process of moving to Canal and Elizabeth Streets. Margaret says that “during the in-between period” she has been “spending more time around the home front” with Bob Dohn and their four cats. An article that I wrote, “Haunted by History: Revisiting Childhood Trauma in Philippe Grimbert’s Un Secret,” was published in the May 2016 issue of The French Review (vol. 89, no.4, pp. 122-35). It concerns trans-generational trauma in a book in which a child, who was born after World War II, learned that he had a brother who perished during the Holocaust. Evy Mayer's cousin, Danny Lyon, is a photographer whose work is currently being shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The exhibit of 175 photographs is entitled “Danny Lyon: Message to the Future.” It will be on view at the Whitney until September 25, 2016. For more information about this compelling exhibit that focuses largely upon marginalized lives, see http://nyti.ms/1Yu5Et3 If you have news to share, contact me at 372 West, #15B, New York, NY 10025; 212-663-6309; ruthlipman[at]msn.com.
