Rod MacDonald: Saturday, August 6th, 8pm Rod MacDonald rose to prominence in NYC's Greenwich Village in the 1980s, where he was a frequent headlining artist in clubs like Folk City and Speakeasy, and co-founded the Greenwich Village Folk Festival. TradMaD Camp continues at Pinewoods, during the last week of the summer. As many of you know, Gert Gershowitz passed away in May. We weren’t able to get the word out to everyone in time for the funeral, but a number of people were able to attend the funeral. Gert’s daughter and son sent the following message. Dear Pinewoods Friends, Thank you so much for being with us at our mom's, Gert Gershowitz, funeral last month. I know many of you who were there were not able to sign the book. We want to thank you for being with us. It gave us great comfort to know that mom and dad's Pinewood's friends were with us! Thank you for your kindness and for your friendship to mom and dad through the years! They loved it! We really could use your help You can join us on Thursday, August 25, see above. - 3 - Weekend Help Wanted Full and Partial stipends are available in exchange for administrative work done on our folk music weekends. Contact the Club President, Evy Mayer, <president(at) folkmusicny.org>, 718-549-1344 (after 11 am) if you are inter ested in any of the jobs for the coming Fall Weekend. Weekend Chair: A management job with responsibility for the per formance of all of the other jobs. On the weekend is the club’s contact between participants and the manager of the facility we are using. (half scholarship) Transportation: Tries to find rides to and from camp for all who need them. Gets and gives out info on pub lic transportation if needed. (full scholarship) Weekend Scholarships Available Applications are now being accepted to the Fall weekend for the George Parker Scholar- ship and the Mayer Scholarship. These funds provide either full or partial scholarships to individuals who could not otherwise attend and who have a strong interest in folk music, singing, and/or instrumental playing.
