CWFL Results and Scorers Saturday 18th March 2017.

Shotton Steel Vets are through to the last 8 of the Doug Johnson Vets trophy after seeing off Dee Rangers Vets 8- 2 with goals from Paul Whitaker 3, Paul Duncan 3, Dave Johnson and Steve Blair.

Overpool Athletic and Blacon Youth were also in cup action as they met in the Quarter Finals of the CWFL Roodee Web Designs TGMT. Blacon came out on top, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Lee McElmeel, Sam Henry and Luke Jones.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division Birkenhead Town seen to be closing in on the title after they beat Christleton Celtic 4-3 in the days early kick off. In a tight game Mike Parnell turned on the style to hit a hattrick with Ian Bennett adding a fourth. Ben Woodman also hit a hattrick for second placed Newton Athletic as they beat FC 4-2. Lewis Davenport added their fourth. MBNA and Lodge Bar took a point a piece from their encounter with the game finishing 2-2. Paul Jones and Lee Williams were the banker’s scorers with Chris McCaffrey and Kyle Griffiths replying for Lodge.

Franklyn’s have re-joined the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One title race after a convincing 11-1 win over FC UBER moves them into third place. Nana Eneh and Colin Singleton led the scoring with three apiece followed by Martin Kent 2, Ash Williams 2 and Ross Henderson. New Ferry are also in the mix after they beat Elton Athletic 3- 1 with goals from Scott Christiansen 2 and Steve McCann.

Blacon Youth Reserves also netted 11 times in their CWFL Link Up Division Two encounter with AFC Quays. Jake Jones lead the way with 4 followed by Harvey Bennion 3, Callum Barlow, Russ Dean, Jacob Price and Peter . Matty McCauley, Phil Goss and Dom Carter were all on target for Crossway as they drew 3-3 with Hoole Youth. St Saviours beat Princes Villa 4-0 with goals from James Atkins 2, Lloyd Drysdale and Luke Edwards. Danny Evans put in a man of the match performance for Upton JFC as they edged the points, beating Orange Athletic 5-4 in a 9-goal thriller. Evans scored twice in injury time to gain his hattrick and Upton all three points. Tom Berry and Joe Williams were the other Upton marksmen with Dave Woodhall 2, Elliot Wright and Tom Wilkinson replying for Orange.

In the CWFL Monday Night 11’s Bears Paw edged a 1-0 win over Christleton Celtic and Sykrop beat Upton Rangers 2-1. In the CWFL Friday Night 11’s Scott Meredith, Richard Dean and Huw Owens were on target for Travs in their 3-0 over El Porto. Jack Hulligan hit a consolation for Countess of Chester as they went down 7-1 to M&S Bank. The banker’s marksmen were Sam Byrne 2, Matty Doyle, Paul Foot, Oliver Rathbone-Jones, Andy Simpson and an own goal.

The CWFL will be marking Adie Gough’s 500 goals for Cestrian Alex in the CWFL this coming Tuesday. A presentation will be made to Adie during the halftime interval at the Chester FC v Town game. All are welcome to come along to celebrate the achievement and to enjoy the game.
