In addition to the Festival’s Juried and Members Shows in the Main Tent, special highlights this year include: • Coastal Printmakers exhibit and demos in the Feature Tent. • “Tent Talks” in the Main Tent (Sat., 12pm). • Boat races, Father’s Day craft-making and more in KidsTent. • Back-to-back performances on the Sound Stage. • Friday night party at the Art Center, headlined by local music phenomenon, Aldous Collins Band. • Nearly 100 artisan booths, which bring the festival out of the marquees and onto the Common.     Noël Coward on TV: Tears in Champagne With onstage appearances from Dame Penelope Keith, Alistair McGowan, Barry Day, Keith Barron, Maria Aitken, John Gorrie and Kit Hesketh-Harvey Monday 30 March 2015, London. Throughout May 2015 BFI Southbank will celebrate the television work of the ground-breaking playwright, musician and cabaret performer Noël Coward. Coward was a playwright way ahead of his time. Hiding behind glamour and sophistication, his plays were radical and often morally ambiguous, from the shocking representation of drug addiction in The Vortex (Granada TV, 1964) to the hedonistic ménage-a-trois in Design for Living (BBC, 1979). Highlights of the season will include a illustrated talk from Coward expert Barry Day, a panel discussion featuring Dame Penelope Keith and Alistair McGowan, and very rare screenings of Jazz Age: Post Mortem (BBC, 1968), unseen since 1968, and a US production of Blithe Spirit (CBS, 1956) starring Coward himself opposite Lauren Bacall and Claudette Colbert. It has been said that Noël Coward fell out of fashion with the arrival of the new breed of ‘angry’ radical playwrights that emerged in the late 50s. While these new plays came to dominate theatre, TV broadcasters continued to see the value in Coward’s work, resulting in a string of fine TV productions which will screen in the season, including Private Lives (BBC, 1976), Fallen Angels (Anglia TV, 1974) and The Kindness of Mrs Radcliffe (BBC, 1981). Coward’s unique blend of high- octane wit and sophistication translated easily to the small screen, and provided glamorous roles for big-name TV stars including Penelope Keith, Susannah York and Joan Collins.

Dallas is a long-running American prime time television soap opera that aired from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991, on CBS. The series revolves around a wealthy and feuding Texan family, the Ewings, who own the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork. The series originally focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes, whose families were sworn enemies with each other. As the series progressed, oil tycoon J.R. Ewing grew to be the show's main character, whose schemes and dirty business became the show's trademark.[1] When the show ended in May 1991, J.R. was the only character to have appeared in every episode. The show was famous for its cliffhangers, including the Who shot J.R.? mystery. The 1980 episode Who Done It remains the second highest rated prime-time telecast ever.[2] The show also featured a "Dream Season", in which the entirety of the ninth season was revealed to have been a dream of Pam Ewing's. After 14 seasons, the series finale "Conundrum" aired in 1991. The show had a relatively ensemble cast. Larry Hagman stars as greedy, scheming oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, stage/screen actressBarbara Bel Geddes as family matriarch Miss Ellie and movie Western actor Jim Davis as Ewing patriarch Jock, his last role before his death in 1981. The series won four Emmy Awards, including a 1980 Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series win for Bel Geddes.

For centuries painters, in particular, have flocked there, making the quaint streets their studios and basking in the light of a city that is gracefully sinking into the sea. ‘‘Venice I love because it’s just an incredibly evocative place,’’ says Brisbane artist David Henderson, 51, whose latest exhibition opens this Friday at Brisbane’s Graydon Gallery.
