Subsurface Engineering, Boreholes and Survey Investigation on Hurontario Street Beginning February 2020 -2- HURONTARIO LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT Information as of February, 2020 Subsurface Engineering, Boreholes and Survey Investigation on Hurontario Street Beginning February 2020 What is the Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project? The Hurontario LRT will be an 18-kilometre, 19-stop light rail service connecting people from the Port Credit GO station to the Brampton Gateway Terminal. The Hurontario LRT will connect with the Port Credit and Cooksville GO stations, Mississauga Transitway, MiWay and Züm transit lines. What work is taking place? To accommodate construction of the Hurontario LRT, Metrolinx is required to evaluate the physical properties of the area where the LRT will be built. Work is done by using a small drill rig that drills into the ground, collecting soil and rock samples for further laboratory testing. Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations will also be conducted to confirm the location of existing utilities (cable, gas, hydro, etc.) in the field. This will help minimize impacts of future construction. This work is integral to the Hurontario LRT and must be done to identify potential construction challenges, create foundation designs and support other structural plans to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of the project. Timing • Surveying started mid-January and is expected to be completed by September 2020. • SUE investigation is expected to start early February and is expected to be completed by mid-March 2020. • Work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Note: At no time will all lanes be closed • Work could be rescheduled and delayed due to weather conditions or any unforeseen circumstances. For information regarding the Hurontario LRT project and construction updates, follow us on Twitter @HurontarioLRT, or contact us at the Metrolinx Hurontario LRT project office at 416-202-7500 or email: [email protected]. -2- What to Expect • Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions. • Access to properties will be maintained at all times through at least one driveway. • Residents and businesses near the work site can expect to hear noise caused by trucks, excavators, and other construction equipment related to this work. Traffic Details • During construction hours, short-term lane reductions will be required on Hurontario Street. • Traffic delays are expected. We will make every effort to minimize any disruption. Transit Details • MiWay, Züm, and Brampton Transit will continue to operate with regular service. • Watch for additional signs directing passengers as bus stops at the below locations may require temporary relocation: • NW Corner – Capston Dr. • SE Corner – Britannia Rd. East • NW Corner – Aldridge St. • NW Corner – Milverton Dr. • SE Corner – Watline Ave. • AW Corner – Matheson Blvd. West • SE Corner – Matheson Blvd. East Pedestrian Details • Please take care when travelling near construction areas. • Sidewalk access in the area could be affected. • Watch for additional signs directing pedestrians as detours may be required. • Clear and defined walking paths will be maintained during construction to ensure pedestrian safety.
