Racing Sponsorship Introduction NASCAR is one of the most popular spectator sports in America. It’s origins can be traced back to the prohibition era when bootleggers would modify their vehicle to outrun the police. This eventually led to competition among them, usually unsanctioned events, which often led to race promoters running off with the race purses before races were over. Driver Bill France saw a need for a sanctioning body to take over the sport. NASCAR was founded in 1948 by Bill France and a group of drivers, car owners and promoters at the in Daytona Beach, Florida. The sport grew from a southern past time into a national phenomenon by the 1990’s and it continues to attract over 2 million television viewers and thousands more in the stands. ARCA The Club of America (ARCA) was founded in 1953 by John Marcum. Working closely with Bill France, the series became an unofficial sister series to NASCAR, often holding races at tracks on the same weekend as NASCAR events. It’s known as one of the most diverse racing series in the world, going to superspeedways, short tracks, dirt tracks, and road courses. In 2018 it was announced that NASCAR had purchased ARCA, finally bringing both organizations together. In 2020 NASCAR incorporated the ARCA Series in the the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West, thus creating three different series, the ARCA Menards Series and the ARCA Menards Series East and West Series.
