Smt. Padi Aruna Pre-Feasibility Report Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, A. P. 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 Introduction Smt. P. Aruna was granted two quarry leases for Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) over an extent of 1.00 Ha., each located at Sy. No. 75/21P of Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh The quarry lease area has been granted for 10 years. Smt. P. Aruna applied for amalgamation of two quarry leases into a single lease with total extent of 2.0 ha., and the Deputy Director of Mines & geology, Guntur has given permission to amalgamate the leases vide proceedings no. 6838/Q2/2016, dated 19.01.2017. Mining Plan was approved by Deputy Director of Mines and Geology, Guntur vide Letter No. 647/MP/MC/DCP/2016, dated 04.03.2017. The salient features of the project are given Table 1.1. Padi Aruna Pre-Feasibility Report Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, A. P. 2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent The proposed project area is found to have good deposits of Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone). It is used in infrastructure development. 2.2 Brief Information about the Project The mining lease area of 2.00 ha.is located in Non-forest, Government land. Open cast mining is followed and it has been proposed to produce approximately 17,500 cu.m./annum of Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone). The nearest habitation is Tangeda Village located at a distance of 0.3 Km due SE of Quarry Lease. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region The demand for Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) has increased due to rapid industrialization and growth in infrastructure. So the number of Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) producing quarries is increasing in India. Due to bifurcation of State, there is a huge demand for Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone). As per EIA notification 2006 project proponent is submitting the proposal to get Environment Clearance for QL area of 2.00 Ha. from District Level Environmental Appraisal Committee/District level Impact Assessment Authority of Guntur constituted by MoEF, GOI for the purpose of operating the quarry lease for which Notification is issued. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap There is huge demand since the material is used extensively in building construction infrastructure development. This project will help in reducing the Demand-Supply gap in the area. 2.5 Domestic/ Export Markets The material is used in the domestic market and in there is no scope for exporting the material. 2.6 Employment Generation Proposed mining is semi-mechanized method and this project operation will provide livelihood to the 25 workers. It will provide employment to the people residing in vicinity. 2 Smt. Padi Aruna Pre-Feasibility Report Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, A. P. 3.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION 3.1 Type of Project Including Interlinked and Interdependent Projects, If Any The proposed Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) Quarry is of 2.00 Ha. No interlinked projects were associated with this project. 3.2 Location The Quarry lease area is located at Sy. No. 75/21(P) of Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. The mining lease area falls in Survey of India toposheet No. 56P14. It is NNE – SSW trending in Southern part and charge to NE – SW, West of Eluru. Stratigraphy & Lithology Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt in Andhra Pradesh is devided into 3 longitudinal zones based on the lithological characteristics. 7 Smt. Padi Aruna Pre-Feasibility Report Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, A. P. 1) Western Charnockite Zone (WCZ) 2) Central Khondalite Zone (CKZ) 3) Eastern Migmatite Zone The Southern half of the coastal belt is mainly represented by Western Charnockite zone with minor patches of Central Khondalite Zone like near Mangalagiri, where as in the Northern District of Andhra Pradesh, Central Khondalite Zone predominant with bands of Charnockite Rock. 3.5.2 Local Geology Present area constitutes part of Western Charnockite zone represented mainly of Charnockite and basic granulite with minor banded iron formation. Lithologically the lease area is underlain by Charnockite, which is fresh looking, greasy, dark coloured with domination of hypersthenes, blue quartz minerals in it. The Charnockite in the area forms dome shaped, steepy sloping hills. The rock is medium to coarse grained texture composed of gresy quartz, hypersthene, orthoclase and plagioclase with or without garnet. The rock is massive, with widely spaced vertical to sub vertical joints trending in NE-SW direction. It is observed that sheet joints are absent. Owing to its compact and hardness charnockite with stand to weathering and form huge, steepy sloping dome shaped hills in the area. Padi Aruna Pre-Feasibility Report Tangeda Village, Dachepalli Mandal, Guntur District, A. P. 3.5.3 Exploration Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) quarries as the lease area is located on undulating land with surface relief of 6 - 10 m. The Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone)s found to be normal in that area, the deposit is being worked out to an maximum depth of 35 m only. 3.5.4 Reserves Reserves of Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) are estimated by Cross Sectional Area method. One cross section was drawn in the lease area and the summary of reserves are given in the below table: Summary of Geological Reserves (a) Total Geological Reserves (Proved) 600480 (b) Reserves Blocked under Benches (Proved) 117450 (c) Reserves Blocked under 7.5 m buffer zone 125551 (Proved) 357479 @ 95% recovery Total Mineable Reserves [a-(b+c)] 339606 Average Annual production 11800 339606 / 11800 = Life of the Mine 28.78 years Say 28 years 95% recovery of the Mosaic Chips (Lime Stone) is considered from the quarry.
