Please refrain from climbing fences. • Entrance and exit to the playing surfaces is at the gateways located by the front of the Pavilion. • No climbing over or sitting on fences. • Approved footwear only on the Turfs, i.e. rubber soles – no sprigs, cleats or metal fittings. • Ensure footwear is clean and free of stones and dirt. • Goalkeeper’s buckles must be covered to ensure no sharp edges protrude. • No smoking, food, chewing gum or spitting is permitted on the Turfs. • No glass bottles permitted on the surfaces. No plastic bottles to be left on the surfaces. • Matches will commence at scheduled times. There will be no extension for lateness or injury unless advised by the Tournament Director. • No personal gear or equipment is to be left inside the fence line of the Turf while matches are in progress. • All rubbish, bindings, tapes must be removed from the Turf and disposed of in rubbish bins provided. • Dugouts are for players and officials only. • Report any damages to HMI office immediately • Watering will take place as required. • Video Tower Access is for Officials only. Key available from office. • Please return all goals/equipment to their original position. PAVILION • Please respect our Venue at all times • No running, jumping inside the pavilion • No Bags, sticks or hockey equipment clothing etc allowed inside the pavilion • NO flyers/posters/notices of any kind to be placed on HMI pavilion / facility AT ALL TIMES 4 • ANY notices/flyers you would like to be advertised within our facility/pavilion must be handed into our HMI office staff for approval. • We expect all Users and Supporters within our facility and pavilion to take care and ensure they clean up after themselves, place all rubbish and left over food in bins provided. • Any damage, vandalism or misbehaviour will not be tolerated. Any costs associated will be charged to the offender/s. • If you find or witness any behaviour causing damage to our facility please contact HMI office immediately. 5 Competition Rules and Regulations 2021 Teams Entries Entry into the HMI Secondary Competition is open to all affiliated members of HMI and teams affiliated to other neighbouring associations provided both HMI and the other association endorse the entry. Teams must be entered online according to the information on the HMI website. Player’s names and team allocation must be completed before the first game. Allocation to Divisions Intercity Competition Entry into the 2021 Intercity competition will be restricted to 8 Boys teams and 8 girls teams based on 2020 Secondary school competition rankings. 2020 Teams have first right of entry. If spaces become available by teams forfeiting their place in the competition the following criteria will apply: 1. Winner of HMI Division 1 will be given first option to accept an available place in the Intercity competition. 2. If after 1 a space still exists a new team entering an HMI competition will be allowed to enter the Intercity competition directly. If there is no space available the following options are available: 1. Division 1 2020 winner has the right to challenge the 8th ranked tema in the Intercity competition. The challenge match must be won outright and played at the time set by HMI prior to the start of the 2021 competition. 2. New teams entering an HMI competition are entitled to enter Division 1 and may win a place through the challenge system if required. This team will then be required to win division 1 to earn the right to challenge for a spot in the Intercity competition the following year. Division 1 and 2 Divisions 1 and 2 and are restricted to 8 boys and 8 girls teams. 2020 Teams have first right of entry into a division. Challenges may be made from new teams or teams wishing to be promoted from the next lowest division. Division 3 and lower Division 3 is open entry to boys and girls teams with a maximum of eleven teams before another division will be created. HMI will devise a suitable competition structure based on numbers and venue availability. 7 a-side Division The 7 a-side division is open entry and is designed to offer opportunities to participate in hockey when schools have insufficient numbers to enter an 11-aside team. It will be played on a half turf with goalkeepers optional. 6 Fixture Protocols All fixtures within the Competition shall be under the control of HMI and thus fall under the scope of the HMI code of conduct and their competition bylaws. All 11-a-side secondary school fixtures will consists of 4 x 15 minute quarters with a 2 minute break between the first and third and third and fourth quarters, and a 5 minute break for half time. 7-aisde fixtures will consist of 4 x 10min quarters. The Hockey Manawatu competitions manager will primarily decide dates, times and grounds for all fixtures in the Competition to create a suitable draw. This will be in accordance with the provisions outlined in the HMI competition bylaws. Development Players Schools may nominate up the three players to play in their highest ranked team as “development players”. These players are able to be registered and play in a lower ranked team as well as playing for the school’s highest ranked team. Development players must be registered in both divisions. Nominated players must be approved by HMI prior to the season beginning. The purpose of this rule is to allow players who would otherwise have limited playing time/opportunities to gain experience playing for the schools highest ranked team while still getting game time at a level the is more suited for their ability. HMI reserves the right to re-grade players if the spirit of the rule is not being met. Players
