The appealing range of architectural styles complement one another in a rural setting. At its centre is the village hall and the popular Compton Inn public house. The closest railway station is Keynsham, approximately 3.5 miles north, connecting to Bath and Bristol stations which both offer mainline services to London Paddington. Sporting facilities in the area include racing at Bath, Chepstow, Newbury, Cheltenham and Wincanton; extensive golfing including courses at Bath, Frome and Wells; fishing on the rivers Frome and Avon; walking and riding in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Educational facilities are comprehensive and include King Edward’s School, Kingswood School and Prior Park College in Bath and Wells Cathedral School and Downside to the south. Description The Old Rectory is a handsome Grade II listed house built in 1849 and believed to be occupying the site of an earlier dwelling. The gabled stone elevations under traditional slate roof form the appealing Victorian style often associated with 19th century ecclesiastical properties, which today are valued and in high demand as family homes. Situated on the edge of the village and approached over a long drive which crosses the paddock, The Old Rectory nestles among mature trees next to the village church, St. Mary’s. On entering the large reception hall with its fine staircase, the architectural interior detail of the mid-nineteenth century is evident with panelled doors and deep architraves, fine ceiling mouldings and wooden and tiled floors. The surveys were carried out to assess the health of the river and enable successful management of our principal fisheries. All other sites covered in this report are intended for the purpose of monitoring all fish populations. • 15 species of fish were recorded and a total of 542 fish were captured; • Brown trout were the most widespread species, being recorded at all 5 sites; • An average total density estimate of 22.2 fish per 100m2 and biomass estimate of 1589 grams per 100m2 were recorded across all sites; • Brown trout were the most numerous species and also had the highest biomass.     Reflections of Mervyn 11th June 1934 – 25th April 2017 A series of memories from those who knew him well He wound the Pensford Church clock since the 1960s and only handed over a few years before his death Mervyn was the first man in the Mothers Union and he believed very firmly in their work and baked 4 or 6 cakes for sale at each meeting, found raffle prizes and always set up the room He bought a minibus specifically to enable transport for Mothers Union outings and his other ‘ladies’ groups’ Mervyn mowed grass in Pensford, Chelwood and Compton Dando for years… refusing all payment and bought bulbs for planting. He rescued a homeless man early one bitterly cold morning from the porch at Chelwood Church, saving his life, he took him home, gave him a home, for several years, whilst desperately trying to sort him out Mervyn played the organ at Pensford Chapel for years until it finally closed Mervyn cooked a full Sunday lunch and gathered 3 or 4 elderly ladies together each week He delivered Nutgrove Farm eggs to me every week Mervyn made a huge bread tin of the most delicious cheese scones for all my social events and fundraisers and even for Meg’s funeral He was always looking for ways to help anyone and he always prayed for ways to reach out and make friends Merv was always motived by his faith in God and the real belief that he was here to work for that God – be His hands and loving, caring heart.

Minutes of the previous meeting held on the 17th November 2020 The minutes were agreed by all to be a true record and were signed by the Chair. 5. Ward councillor’s update • Resourceful Earth are promoting turning waste into green energy and renewable energy. • There is currently a debate regarding B&NES Council ‘hybrid meetings’ being continued once the pandemic is over. Hybrid meetings involve a mixture of people being present in a hall and on Zoom at the same time. • There maybe a request for an additional voluntary element to the council tax for next year. Any money raised would be allocated by a special committee to causes deemed to need extra support. This was reported to have had mixed success in other areas. A question was asked regarding an email circulated via the Clerk, informing that local contact had been made directing people living close to the Resourceful Earth site to their website, Resourceful Energy Anaerobic Ltd (REAL). It was confirmed that only the email circulated by the Clerk had been received locally.
