Our welcome BBQ was a great success! Thanks to everyone who came along. The weather was beautiful and families had a great time getting to know other families, children and staff. The children had fun dressing in pink or red to support the Berry Babes Pink Week fundraising efforts in aid of Breast Cancer Australia. Our activities during the week followed the pink and red theme with pink play dough, slime and goop being a hit for arts and craft. We also cooked healthy pink foods, fruit kebabs and yummy Berry smoothies! We were excited to contribute $80 to the cause through our gold coin donations. Easter was another fun time at Berry Pre-School with the Thursday group participating in the Easter hat parade at Berry Public School. The children enjoyed visiting ‘big school’ and felt like VIPs with the welcoming cheers and high fi ves of the bigger kids! Our cake stall was another wonderful success with the new addition of selling bulbs. The children took part planting bulbs in the Pre-School garden and we look forward to seeing them in full bloom. In art the children have been learning about Picasso and creating very interesting portraits in the cubism style. Music has also been lots of fun with the children being introduced to Beethoven. We have also enjoyed moving to music with scarves and copying rhythms and different beats with drumming. The children were thrilled to be able to perform some of the songs they had learned at the School of Arts during Seniors Week. Berry Community Pre-School is thrilled to offer children starting The management arrangements for the Berry School of school in 2014 reduced fees of only $18 per day (with thanks to Arts, and FOBSA’s involvement will be determined at the the Government’s initiative for fee reduction). AprilN has brought many surprises weatherwise. What a grand entry into the softness of a colourful autumn! The crisp mornings, beautiful sunrises and mist in the valleys -this is our Berry! Congratulations to Berry CWA for being sixty two years young, still energetic, hardworking, enthusiastic, and with arms outstretched to welcome those folks who enter the doors of their rooms in Victoria Street. To celebrate their birthday there was an unveiling of the Presidents’ Gallery composed of past presidents’ photos. Relatives and friends of some of the presidents were able to attend, share with us the unveiling, and then partake of a typical CWA afternoon tea of delicious, tantalising delights. Many thanks to Cultural Offi cer, Sandra, for her excellent work in researching the history of each past president and the setting up of the Gallery. A further delight was the birthday cake, a rich and decadent chocolate cake. Why is there such a phrase as: “I must go on a diet?” It was a great afternoon and enjoyed by all. We have had some busy days -a Fashion Parade to raise money for Crohn’s Disease medical research, Wollondilly Handicraft Day, (with one item to go to state judging), a members’ birthday morning tea, deliveries for Meals-on-Wheels, lunch at a Moroccan cafe in Manly, Women Walk the World, helping at the CWA Tea Rooms at the Royal Agricultural Show, an excursion to the Jindy Andy centre, lunch at , and the State Conference in Moree.
