During the 1963 season, for example, Osian Ellis, the Dartington String Quartet, and Gerald Moore gave concerts. Bideford Music Club now offers six concerts a year from October to March and this ambitious programming still continues. Many of our musicians are already established in the musical world. However, the Club also offers a platform to young performers who have been selected by musical charities such as Making Music, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Tillett Trust; in other words, you can see and hear the stars of the future! We try to pass on our enthusiasm for classical music by arranging two visits each season to local schools. Our musicians give a mini-concert and talk about their work and instruments to eager audiences. These visits are generously funded by local Trusts and Councils. If you enjoy chamber music of world-class quality then come along to our concerts. Recordings have their place, but a live performance engages you with an intensity and depth of sound that can’t be matched. It’s the difference between looking at a picture of the beach and actually taking a walk. Come and try it!
